Even if you can hit level 5, if you don't deposit 60k in your account (or keep a running balance greater than 100k, you get zero ebucks

Isn’t it 150k (maybe it’s 180k - 3x60k) or so deposits over 3mths.

The hoops to jump through aren’t too bad. I have a few grand in USD, that I’ve had sitting there since I discovered the wonders of ebucks! That’s the only thing I did out of the ordinary. The rest I would have anyways... the will.. FNBy. Can’t think of what else.

There are no fees when transferring funds to or from your global account. There's a R275 when making a payment to a third party.

First pic is a R9500 transfer to my USD global account.

Second pic is a R9500 transfer to my GBP Global account.

Third pic is a payment of £400 to a UK bank account from my GBP Global account. View attachment 641150 View attachment 641152

But a Global Account is terrible from an investment point of view - rather have an offshore ETF.

So if a Global Account is terrible for investment purposes, what is the point of having one? (Besides the Ebucks earn). Is it to hedge funds? And what do you mean by an offshore EFT? Is it like a fund manager? I have not ventured into the global markets yet and are considering it.

There are other uses :) I am traveling to France and would like to pull my Euro straight off there. ITs a form of convenience more than anything else. Rate I paid now for then etc...

Also the loungekey for international lounge access.

Also no need to complete a BOP declaration when making payments overseas as it would have been completed when depositing funds into the account.

I have a USD and GBP Global account and did an eft from my GBP account to someone in the UK with a bank of Scotland account. No declaration needed on what the payment was for and no conversion as the funds were already in GBP. It also cleared in the recipients bank account almost immediately. No idea why we have to pay for local instant eft when an international eft went through on the same day.

I also purchased something in USD from ebay and the exact USD amount was debited from my USD global account. I have cards for both accounts.

Yes, so my main reason is to have foreign denominated assets in case the rand depreciates. But sticking this into cash is inefficient as it doesnt pay much interest and inflation eats away at it over time. But the ebucks benefit sort of makes up for this.

Also, apologies for the typo... I meant offshore ETF. So basically an index tracker that is designed to return the reference portfolio it is designed to track. So, if its the S&P500 for eg, then this will give us the same return as the US index. Ideally you want to hold this in actual dollars and not the rand-equivalent of the dollar amount. Its more tax efficient this way, especially if the rand depreciates. Paying CGT on the dollar gain rather than the rand gain is muuuuuuch better in this case. PM me if you ever want to chat about it...

Can I use that card to pay for hulu?
Since they block south African credit cards.

Haven't tried but I don't think so.

I tried to topup my UK O2 prepaid sim card using my GBP Global card on their website and it would not accept the card. I assume Hulu will not accept the USD card as its still issued by a South African bank.

I have used my GBP Global card to purchase items from the UK Google Store with no issues - I did use a family member's UK address though.

No way to earn ebucks to settle that card last time I checked . You can settle a Woolworths credit card at Woolworths and earn ebucks.
