Interesting. I haven't gone through the new rules in detail, but it looks from the new calculator that a bond is not going to count a lot of points anymore. Especially not when you are paying it off much faster than required and owing less than 70% of what you have to.

This is good for me. FNB usually offers me the higher interest rates when applying for finance, I will now without hesitation choose the better interest rate offered.

Agreed. This is the first real bait & switch FNB has done on eBucks. They've implemented lots of rule changes in the past to make us more profitable clients in order to earn eBucks. But they've really slashed earn potential this year.

Yip. They want you to be a profitable client. Paying down your bond early is not profitable for them. They'd rather you took that cash and invested it with them.

Still not implemented. My limit on the website is still showing R6k.

Can you really call this bait and switch? The points were changed annually yes we all drop significantly etc but they didn't do it mid year. So as much as it sucks I wouldn't really call it bait and switch.

I would call it that. FNB went on a massive campaign over the last few years to pull customers over from other banks. Central to their campaign strategy was pushing eBucks.
Now that they've got the customers, they can materially reduce value

More discounts on different airlines

eBucks:) More is better! As of 01 July 2018, eBucks Travel now gives you more choice to use your discount on different airlines. Visit eBucks Travel online and get up to 40% off on Air France - KLM, kulula.com & British Airways (operated by Comair).

They are apparently also being rotated, I think. No doesn't look like rotation.

How are the international caps calculated?

....

The bank has also enhanced its eBucks Travel portal. Members can now book and pay for flights with eBucks and/or rands across all major airlines, not just its current partners Kulula and Emirates. Discounts of up to 40% on the base fare remain applicable for its partners only, and it has introduced annual caps on the number of discounted flights per year. Members are limited to discounts on 24 one-way domestic economy flights and four return international economy flights (and, on business class, eight one-way domestic and two return international flights). eBucks says discount flight partners will “alternate periodically” from July 1, suggesting a possible change to the domestic Kulula relationship.

I don't believe these specials on flight. They normally already 20% more expensive then travel start. And they always gross up the airport taxes and reduce the base fares.

Do we earn eBucks according to normal credit card purchase rates (i.e. 2% on Premier) at Checkers Money Market?
If so, I should rather top up a voucher at the Money Market counter to be used for Checkers purchases once I have reached the cap.

That's actually a good work around.

I'm planning on using Makro (only because there's one very close to us) once I've exhausted the Checkers cap. Will take the 0.75% extra partner earn. Still scratching around for any small gains that can still be found :< Will have to pay for some petrol in the kiosk also, going forward.
