I emptied all my eBucks yesterday at Makro. Such a nice feeling to not use your cash.

I believe eBuck remains unrivalled, inspite of the rule changes. I'm also grateful to FNB for all the "freebies" I've accumulated over the years, its been great windfall. Jumping through their rule-hoops was worth the effort.

Will I, in the future, jettison to a financial institution that offers something marginally better - gees, i doubt it. I shudder at thoughts of that administrative nightmare. It would have to be something really good - like the eBucks of old. FNB know they already have many of us shackled to them.
Agreed. But pretty useless if I can easily reach caps every month. Surely one should reach caps and use other programs/banks for remaining spend?

Trying to find best program for anything.. Flights, bucks etc is proving more difficult.

Just go to calculator and figure out what you need super easy.

I did...

Easy/straightforward ones:
  • Four transactions on the app
  • Swipe more than you draw
  • Draw more @till than you draw from ATM
  • Do the majority of your spend on CC.
  • Maintain a balance of R5000 in the cheque account
  • Be on the Islamic account

The problamatic ones (Where tips will be appreciated):
  • Spend on your credit card (I'm not going to hit the top end here. Will spot/wcw/slide help?)
  • Spend some amount online every month (Whats the most minor online purchase that I can make?)
  • 4 debit orders (But I don't have four... Any tricks for this?)
  • Drafted and signed a will with FNB as your executor (I'm skeptical about this one. Might hurt in the long run, if they take a chunk as fees)

But if I hit all the above points, I'll be on level 5.

What I want to know is... Do you do something different?

  • 4 debit orders (But I don't have four... Any tricks for this?) get one, even a small one.
  • Drafted and signed a will with FNB as your executor (I'm skeptical about this one. Might hurt in the long run, if they take a chunk as fees)

Mostly that for me on premier. Here is how I get to 12 000 points with almost no effort:

12000 Total
2000 Do at least four payments, transfers (excluding inter-account transfers) and/or purchases per month via the FNB Banking App
1000 Have at least four monthly debit orders on your FNB Fusion Premier Account or FNB Premier Cheque Account
500 Spend more on your FNB cards and/or FNB Pay than the amount of cash you withdraw at ATMs and FNB branches during the month
1000 Make sure your Cash@Till™ withdrawals are greater than the value of all your cash withdrawals at ATMs and FNB branches during the month
2000 Spend R15000 more
1500 online spend - Between R2 000 and R4 999 per month
3000 100% of your total monthly spend CC
1000 Draft a will with FNB as your executor and have your signed will with a signature date no older than five years kept in FNB's custody

Debit orders are too easy to get, I just get them for stuff where they force that down as the only payment
1. short term insurance - eg. vehicle, house contents and building ect. (these are all with a single insurer)
2. life insurance
3. RA - While I have an RA with work, I also have RAs from previous companies where I pay in between R500-1500 also.
4. Armed response company
5. R35 debit order for 500GB/month FNB data sim
6. Telkom mobile if I forget to pre-emptively pay it via EasyPay (this one hasnt gone off in months though)
I guess medical aid and gap cover could be here, but they with my employer so they get subtracted from salary before I get any money.

I don't do the Islamic thing, but I guess thats because I dont absolutely need it.

Online, easy to hit R2000 a month.
1. CoolIdeas 100/100Mbit/sec internet is R1250 or something.
2. I always buy stuff online, usually cheap stuff from Alixpress ect for home automation. Building it up piece by piece.
3. If I dont do #2, then there is City rates + Telkom mobile accounts that will easily get me over R2000 a month.

Then I always have more than R15 000 swipe spend, thats the easiest part to get...too easy if I have to buy parts for fixing cars

/sigh I have too many hobbies.

Can I apply for a premier card even if I don’t earn anywhere close to the requirement. Getting Ebucks on premier seems so much easier.

@Dykan: Check for the mantain x amount in your account. If you have the 50k on prem they dont charge account fees and it gets you points if you maintain it.

5. R35 debit order for 500GB/month FNB data sim- what is this never heard anything about it
It was a special in the early days of FNB-Connect. The plan work so well in dual sim phones, that I never bothered to cancel it, and actually use it now.
ps. You can STILL get it:

Yes when you die they take a percentage of your estate for handling it. This isn't free...
Think it's R200 a year. They collect it for free.
Yeah, there is.
Drafting the will = Free
Storing the will = Think it is like R1000 once off forever, or R200 a year.
When executing the will, the fee is the maximum allowed by law. This will be the same at most big institutions.

Now, me and the wife never had a will. So this exercise was to get our first one, instead of having nothing.
Took me 5 months to go through the process, mostly because I had to get the wife to read through all the docs and eventually sign it. She really disliked the idea of thinking what to do when we die =/

That said, you can do this FNB will, then go and do a newer one somewhere else where this fee can be negotiated.

Can EasyPay/Pay@ account payments be split between online and retail stores? Think I may hit my online cap if I pay the full amount online...
