Titanic tourist sub goes missing sparking search

US Navy detected Titan sub's catastrophic implosion before rescue attempt began

As multiple ships scoured the North Atlantic this week for the missing submersible headed to the Titanic wreck site, the US Navy had already detected an implosion on Sunday at the site where the vessel lost communications.

The information, which was not definitive, was immediately shared with the US Coast Guard, and a decision was made to continue the mission as a search and rescue to “make every effort to save the lives on board,” according to a senior Navy official, who spoke under the condition of anonymity.

Makes me wonder why they didn't disclose that on Sunday. Well it was fun watching everyone make their naam gat.

One thing I don't understand.... why is the whole world suddenly obsessed about this particular incident?

Man bites dog?

I suggest that its still possible.

If someone locked themselves into a cabin, no entry for sea creatures to get into, then the bones will still likely be in one piece.

Unlikely, but possible.

5 Differant major pieces found.

1. Nosecone - initial discovery
2. Front end bell - first Debris field
3. After end bell - Second field

Other pieces were landing frame and tail.

Sounds like implosion which caused the carbon Fibre to shatter and split the craft, front and back bells wide apart. ( my 2c ).
So, they still looking for pieces of the bell end that ok'd the use of carbon fibre and aluminium?

Couldn't care less. I just want one of the unopened bottles of champagne that was found.

The Heidsieck’s Goût Américain Champagne of the 1907 vintage, which was on board was just in the right conditions, being stores in temperatures of around 3-4 degree Celsius, a reason it was worth a whopping $275,000.

I used to do a lot of diving when I was younger. Often saw sharks, but they never bothered me. Usually tried to keep an eye on them, but you get kinda blase after a while.

The only time I got really worried about sharks was when spearfishing. When you've got a bleeding, kicking fish on your harpoon, the sharks suddenly become very interested in you.
I know surfers who surf virtually everyday encounter what I did often but being a vaalie and only my 4th time out into the ocean on a paddle ski it was a scary encounter.
