Hi, two weeks ago went to apply for a RBM contract without any doubt that it's going to be a problem. With clean credit record, more then enough money in two different banks, well paid job for last 6 years and SA ID i thought that this is going to be a piece of cake. Yesterday went to the shop in Greenstone to pick up my phone. But how naive of me! Cell C did not approve me. Giving me the most ridiculous and pathetic explanation that i've ever heard. They calling it "no recent trades" which means that i don't have Edgars or Woolworths account. I don't see the connection between the two. Looks like because i'm buying my staff from overseas or cash i'm not allow to have a cellc contract. It does not make any sense. Why the hack i need Edgars account for and what that got to do with mobile contract. Please if any of CellC reps willing to help with that absurd problem i will really appreciate.
P.S.
Just for your information, the shop in Greenstone is useless! Like really, really useless. Never phones or returns calls. One of the employees barely speaks English. Call center just transfers me from one department to another with very, very bored voices unwilling to help and sending me back to the shop. If the rest of your stuff is with the same professional skills and abilities maybe is better that i did not sign.

Why even attempt to get a contract through them then?
Try one of the other service providers.

Amazing. I got a RBM contract with just proof of address and 3 months bank statement. Not even a payslip or copy of my credit card.

I was in and out of the Cell C shop in 15 minutes.

Go for the Motorola Defy. Froyo is being released for it end of April.

Seems like no one from CellC is willing to help. Tough ****. On my way to HK next week will see how it goes there with SE Arc.

The RBM's service are screwed up tonight together with the whole Network today... You're the CEO right? So what the hell is wrong with your Billing System / Black Berry Services / Data network .... and the list goes on, and on, and on.... !!! --- Cell C Clients are being blacklisted left, right & centre, because of your Billing Systems failure to send through Debit Orders, and this has been going on for months now. - How many Business Owners are being affected by this Fraud of Blacklisting ?? -- Aren't you sick and tired of all the BS you're giving all your clients. !! -- Haven't you got far more seriously urgent internal company failures to sort out, than trying to fraternise with your Clients, wasting your precious CEO Time, when you employ other managers & executives to handle Client Queries, and all of your call centre staff, to name a few.

While the network issues certainly are apparent and I have seen posts regarding long wait times and unhelpful attitude from the help desk, you are making a number of other unsubstantiated claims regarding black listing and billing issues. Please provide more details.

While I agree that a CEO should be focusing on cracking the whip to make his staff provide the service they where employed to do and getting on with business, the fact that his is active on the forum shows he's seeing the pain customers experience and the personal interest tells me he's listening.

To me it's a refreshing change from the usual "holier than thou" CEO attitude spewing from large corporates...

In my professional view, the "LPR CEO" profiles that have been created on Social Media, can be as fake as the "Trevor Noah CEO" & "Tell Trevor" profiles that the Cell C Media & Marketing Dept. have created. We all know that Trevor has only sold his voice to Cell C, and that Trevor Noah, does not take any interest or support of the Client's of Cell C, as has been implied in the advertising of Cell C's services.

HelloPeter.com have Cell C Complainants wrt BIS being deactivated every month now.

Also, Cell C Clients have to take out the battery on Black Berry's - then put it back in and switch them back on, a number of times before it registers on the Network. And this is a Data issue. I to have this problem on the Galaxy S and the Win7 phones, when it happens, I have to swap the Cell C simcard out for either the MTN or Vodacom simcards, for the entire day.

Automatic debits don't go through, and Cell C's IT Software automatically blacklists Cell C Clients, and this can't be reversed by the Staff, and Cell C Clients have to take the issue up with Cell C Legal Dept. to try and attempt to have the Blacklisting removed. And this is a recurring fault. I have clients who are unable to obtain bank funding due to this illegal blacklisting on Company Phones under contract with Cell C.

Has anyone, or can anyone, verify the LPR Profile/s as Legitimate? Or should we just assume they are Legitimate?

Follow Cell C's Local Business Facebook Page, and you'll see Client's complaints outlining the above issues I mentioned. Not everyone is aware of My Broadband & a large number of complainants lodge their complaints through 140, and haven't yet become aware of other forums or web portals to try to bring resolution to their long outstanding complaints & Cell C's insufficiencies.

I have friends who work at Durban's Cell C Call Centre, and you should hear their tales of the vast number of Data & Smartphone issues that are received, daily, in which the blame for the faults reported can be laid squarely at Cell C's Door, and the majority of the complaints are outstanding repeated faults that are now continually recurring, in which the complainant in the past has been assured that there will be no repeat of the faults reported by them.

So facts are facts - and Social Media records them for all to see & review.

Thanks for the details.

The LPR account on MBB is legit. It has been verified by rpm.

Thanks, I'll take note of that WRT the LPR verification.

It would be professional & ethical of the "LPR" profile to explain publicly to "bavmorda" and ourselves what he proposes to do to resolve "bavmorda's" issue, as this will affect any number of prospective current & future Clients of Cell C, as it is purely an IT System Fault, in which the Cell C store personal cannot override.

I'll be signing up soon. In the process of ditching MTN (12 years there, no effort whatsoever to retain me through their business interaction/retention people). Good riddance.

I'll get 1 contract to start, perhaps more if all goes well. My coverage is not great, but I don't need speed. Have phone set to GSM by default.

Are these issues all CellC related, or related to RBM as a part of CellC?

Cell C Problematic Issues are occurring on their "New & Improved" IT System Software, (supplied by an Unknown Provider), which Cell C had installed in the 1st Weekend of February 2011... It crashed on 12:10am Monday 7th February 2011 - and is now so completely screwed up, as to be considered unreliable.

@Budza, It relates to ALL Pre-paid & Contract Products sold, countrywide.

Hi, what was my surprise to find so many post after few days of nothing. To RavenXV i don't think that my problem is related to their billing software or IT System Fault. But i might be wrong. They (CellC) just did not approve me, basic their decision on some complete nonsense. That is what was all the fuzz about. Thanks to LPR for a help offered. What i don't understand where are CellC reps if any on this forum and why the CEO of the company should attend such a stupid matter. Is the customer service and customer care at CellC so bad or i should say don't exist, that the CEO must handle such queries. That is what really worries me. If i pull such a rubbish to my boss probably i will not even have enough time to collect my belongings before i'm out of the door. BTW did send LPR a PM will see how it goes and will update if and when i got something.
P.S. On my way to Gourmet Garage yummy :)
