lilDeath...
Much appreciated...that is very low bandwidth usage actually...
Should I just start with prophecies and work my way up to eye of the north?
Get them all :D
See a post of mine in another thread here http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showpost.php?p=2490127&postcount=78
But if you cannot afford it....
Yes, NF is the best to start for a beginner, Prophecies starts very slow and Factions is a bit faster, but with heroes in NF it is a cakewalk.

I would recommend you get them all, but start with Prophecies. There's no need for heroes. We did fine with them for years until they were introduced. I don't like them actually as they made the game too solo-oriented.

People that say you can only change regions 5 times, are still not aware this was changed quite a while ago and are spreading lies.

lol, thanks for clearing that up :p Last time I changed zone was to get away from lag in EU a good 3 years ago

+1, and theres Pre-searing...very nice starting zone that teaches you the basics (which you can take at your own pace) :)

That's why I said for the beginner. I very much loved starting in Prophecies, but not everyone has the patience to stick it out with Prophecies. Yes, it's pretty in pre and even later in post and I pretty much enjoyed starting in Prophecies 3 years ago and going through the motions, learning everything, doing every single quest, etc. In this day and age, people are used to instant results and getting a general feel for the game, which is what NF helps the best with.
Also, the player-base isn't what it used to be and I find people less helpful in towns, which is also where the heroes play a very important part - You do still have the choice of playing with people or heroes, in Prophecies, not so.
Prophecies is the classic start of GW, which every owner of GW must at one stage or another do. You haven't experienced GW without it. I took 2-3 months to completely go through Prophecies with my warrior. It rocked!

If you start in NF, you can go to Prophecies from NF, but only when you get the traveling quests, which mostly happens after the quest called The Time is Nigh in NF.
You cannot go into pre-searing in Prophecies with this method though. You can only access post-searing (i.e. after the searing).

In order to get into pre-searing, you must start your character in Prophecies. It is the very beginning of GW and starts the storyline, of Gwen, Charr, etc.

Yeah you gotta at least do pre-searing and post searing to understand the charr for GW:EN

Kage, you post your IGN (in game name) once you've created and I'll come find you :)

Unfortunately if you want an Assassin you'll have to start in Factions

Assassins and Ritualists are Factions-only characters, whilst Dervishes and Paragons are Nightfall-only. The other 6 professions can be created in any campaign.

so you cant use an asassin build in proph because it is not originally available? Even iff you have all of them installed...?

Well after you finish Factions, you can do the Prophecies campaign or any other campaign with your Assassin, would be a good idea if you want to catch-up on the story.

To be honest, I'm not sure if you actually need to finish Factions or just reach level 20 to go to the other campaigns. All you need to do is follow a quest that takes you there. Good thing about factions is you practically level to 20 in the training part of the game.

You do however need to finish 1 campaign to enter GW:EN... if i remember correctly.

If you want an assassin - go for it! You can complete all the storylines with your character. Also, Guild Wars is the type of game in which you will make alt characters. So if you want to experience pre-searing, you can always experience it on another character :)

GZ and Welcome!

You can go travel to EotN when you reach lvl10. The quests become available to travel to EotN in LA, Kamadan and Kaineng. This mostly happens in Kamadan since the other 2 chapters you will be well past lvl10 when you reach these towns (unless of course you run or get run).
For instance...
Starting in Factions, when you reach Kaineng, you will be well past lvl10, if you did all the side quests, so the traveling mission to the other continents will be available.
