Get a salvage kit and salvage materials from your drops. Check what materials you'll need for your armor and keep those in your chest.

The cost is fairly low in the beginning (both in materials and moneywise) - you'll only be able to get max armor once you get to Kaineng center - and there it's typically 1,000 gold a piece - luckily money isn't really a problem in Factions.

Ok...what is the easiest way to get armour?
Tha armour system is VERY diferent from any other RPG I have ever played...to get basic items to contruct and then still pay for it takes some getting used to.

Buy the basic stuff at material trader and then go create the armour. :p:D

have a guild yet?

It's quite a simple system. In most towns you'll find an Armour Crafter NPC (hold down the Alt button, which will display the names of all the NPCs in the area, which will allow for easy location of them. Then simply double-click on the NPC's name and your character will move towards it).

At the armour crafter you'll see a list of all the available armour for your profession. Simply click on a piece of armour which will tell you the price and the materials you will need. Make a note of the latter.

Locate the Materials NPC in town and purchase the required materials from the NPC (or you can purchase the materials from other players should you wish to pay a lower price but spend some time finding someone selling them).

Once you have the materials (mats), go back to the armour crafter and you'll be able to purchase your armour from them.

As you progress in the game make sure to check up with the armour crafters in the area to see if they provide better armour. Once you get to the mainland you'll be able to get maximum armour, which you'll want to upgrade with runes etc. But baby steps for now :D

Well last night, I played for about 6 hrs...playing with an asassin with mesmer as a secondary.

Here are my thoughts so far.
Asassin is a great profession, fast and lethal. It is a hit and run job with quick combos but suffers greatly at the early stages against mages on a solo run.
I was at level 5 last night when I did something stupid  and sold all my armour to get new armour and ran out of cash to buy the new armour.

So I had a choice, run around naked in the square with everyone laughing at you literally or start over with the current knowledge of the game. So I decided on the latter.

I was able to play about an hour or 2 with mesmer as a secondary and it really could work. Ether feast is nice with 20 health per energy point lost...this will be extremely helpful for the asassin that can spam Ether Feast and Shadow Refuge.

So it could be very useful as a secondary profession.
Sounds like good times! The only way to learn something is to experience it through trial and error and realise where you made the mistakes :)

You won't be able to solo enemies early on with the skills at your disposable. Use the henchies, they are life savers, plus a sin needs healing ;)
If you want to solo, you will need a sort of solo build, either evasion with damage and healing or the classis Shadow Form elite.

Assassins (spike damage) and Warriors (constant dps) are the melee classes and they are supposed to pump out large amounts of damage, carrying other skills around with long cast times and wasting your energy takes time away from what you are supposed to be doing - WHOOPING ASS! :D

That's the main reason people are not using Mesmer as a secondary class on Assassins. The only place they are really good on an assassin is for SOLO builds where you kill groups of enemies on your own. This is a very specific build though, mostly for farming.

duly noted...:D

I can switch the secondary class so it is not a major problem, so it will be a lot of trial and error, but i actually like the speed of the asassin...just need to get my arse out if the fray sooner...

Just to latch on to Lydon's informative post above ...
Do not waste your money unnecessarily, since money can become a problem later on. Pick up everything that drops and either sell it or salvage it for the mats to put in your Storage.

You must be on the mainland already (Kaineng) by the sounds of it and there are different armor NPC's. They all have the same protection level, their skins (looks) are just different and they require different mats to be crafted.
People buy armor according to what they like and how it looks.

All the other chapters also have different armor NPC's, and they all look different. Some are more expensive that others, but the expensive ones generally look more expensive (opinions differ ofc).

I personally like my sin very much. It's my 3rd char. It's very enjoyable to play and was the first char I used for farming and completed Factions with cart and protector.

My Necro (from Prophecies) is also my 2nd char and I basically use her as my main char, and this is why I made the choice of getting GWAMM on her.
