I sent Sentech this e-mail:

Ticket num 5009
tower 116

Well this must be one of the longest running tickets Ive ever heeard of. Anyways I thought as seeing as speeds are supposed to increase at some point this month.. and well it's already the 24th and I am still downloading off tucows.co.za at **** speeds (2Kb/s currently) and p2p is even worse than I ever thought possible, for starters when I connect to p2p I cannot do ANYTHING else - I cannot browse the internet, my speeds are sooooooooo slow! However , even with 15 downloads going on p2p I won't cross 2Kb/s , which is just mad.. however that 15 soon dies out to about 2/3 as they either just timeout or the ADSL user on the other side gets pissed off with my slow ass and kicks me off. Bittorrent is just as bad, can't do anythign while it's running and it never goes above 1Kb/s , I was downloading a file with over 200 seeds the other night, in 8 hours I downloaded 11 Mb.

Anyways I hope the upgrades are happening , and that they're going well

This is my reply

Good Day David, ( <<--- Who the **** is David?)

I have included the below email in your ticket, however I
would like to advise that when it comes to p2p software we
do not provide any guarantees on throughput as there are
too many factors outside of our control.

In terms of the slow speeds, on the 128kbps package a
minimum thoughput of 4.26kbps (kilobits per second) is
provided in terms of the shared bandwidth and the worse
case contention ratio of 30:1.

Currently Sentech is still on track to have the speed
issues resolved by the end of August 2004. Once these
issues are resolved, we cannot guarantee a marked
improvement in the speeds that you are currently
experiencing unless you are seeing speeds below the minimum
thorughput of the package.

I just spoke to Tristan on the phone. See what frustrates me the most is that they keep falling back on this contention ratio bull****, I understand if some of the time it is below 16Kb/s , but the fact is that it's a 128 k package , that has nothing to do with the possiblities of performance, it has to do with the actual performance, if I go to tomorrow's meeting I am taking this e-mail with me and I want Winston Smith to explain exactly what they mean when they asy they're fixing the speed issues. It also seems that the guys at help desk have kind of been kept out of the loop with regards to how the speed issues are going to be fixed, Tristan said that my speeds may very well fly as of the 1st Sept, it's just that Sentech provides no guarantee excepting that it's faster than 128/30 k , ergh I dunno.. we'll have to wait and see

Cannon --- turn Winston into fodder please....

I'm not going to go as I'm likely to get arrested for assault the moment he opens his mouth.

A4 is too big, will scare off anyone from reading it, unless its brightly coloured and glossy, A5 would be the way to go, short , not a mission to carry around, easy to read.
Lonegunman/Loosecannon(man), I am unable to be there, as much as I would love to give them carrots, I am currently too heavily loaded with tasks to bother with sentechbashing.
But I appeal to anyone that has a free evening, go and help the cause. instead of sitting around doing the usual tracerts and f/ping 66..... and complaining, rsvp to that nice lady in the letter, get a free meal from your hard earned monthly payments to sentech, and bring up what they deserve.

Any non-sentech subscribers on the forum that have some time, join the fray, go as a potential customer, and ask legitimate questions like "Why should I get this, my associate with mywireless has been moaning for 130 days"

Lonegunman, I would love to your your most delectable usage of the english language, when aimed directly at agent smith. If its anything like your usage on the forum, this should be a pleasant evening
