I am thinking of upgrading to the retina screen iPad.

Currently have an iPad 2 wifi.

I browse the web, emails, photos, videos and read alot of magazines with Zinio and Kindle.

I find that the iPad 2 screen tends to hurt my eyes as a laptop does.

Surely the iPad 3 retina screen is a massive improvement?

How did you guys find the new screen?

My dad has the iPad 2, and I've got the iPad 3. Screen is a vast improvement... The iPad 4 is out now which is faster... And sadly, there will be a 5 out soon enough lol.

I can get iPad 3 16gb + 4G for R4800 second hand from Pretoria or R5599 from Makro or Game.

New New ipad :) costs too much for now, but as you say a newer one will come out soon........

The screen is enormously better. I've got iPad2 and 3, and going from one to the other was all the difference in the world. I read 2-3 hours a day on there without strain. That said, you'll find that the Mini is also a similar if not as drastic improvement in readability.

Bank with fnb but don't have Cheque account.

How difficult is it to upgrade to a Cheque account?
I have the cash to buy an ipad, not sure if fnb is cheaper.

easy do it online or in a branch or even over the telephone on the fastapp line then they will be able too check if you do meet the criteria

How long does the process take or is it instant?

If you have the cash just buy it. You can always sell the 2 if you want to add in a bit.

Already have a buyer offering R2000, I paid R2900 for it same time last year.

iPad 3 16gb + 4g

I would wait for ipad5 as its going to much better probably with the new tech i.e Igzo and also with 128gb of space

I have the iPad 3 - I love the screen because it does not give me headaches as I've noticed I got when I used my friends ipad2.

:)

To tell your u the truth, I'm tired of upgrading. But the iPad 3 has a brilliant screen. I'm not upgrading again until they give us something substantial not a faster chip. I mean I'm not using AutoCAD on the thing.

True.
I don't see them changing screen anytime soon.

Only things to come is better glass on screen and for them to make it lighter.
Think the iPad 5 will just be a large iPad mini designed tablet with Retina screen.

Keep the iPad2 and get yourself a Mini.

The mini is bit small to read effectively on, I subscribe to a couple magazines on Zinio.
Anyway seems the wife wants the iPad 2 so wont be selling.

It is lots of money for what is basically a "toy"

Yes, but it's a very useful 'toy'.

I have the iPad 2 16GB + 3G. I don't go anywhere without it these days.
However, unlike you, I don't do that much reading on it - so an upgrade for me, will not be worth it.

Let us know how you get on with the iPad 3.

It did hurt the bank account a little buying my new toy, I also use it every as well, nice having instant on device to just grab.
Anyway iPad 3 should arrive this week but I heard somewhere Post office is on strike in Pretoria.........

To each their own - I have no problem reading on mine.

There is a hidden bonus to getting a iPad3 - all your legacy cables will work. :)
