Hi Guys,

I am looking at getting a new phone and am looking at getting an iPhone. Now the question is, do i get the iPhone 6 64GB or wait for the iPhone 6S 64GB?

I am planning on getting it on a telkom mobile contract as their prices seem to be the best in my opinion.

Reason for the new phone is old phone decided to die on me (Samsung), so would like to get it preferably this week.

What are your thoughts, any input is appreciated.

Cheers

You will not be disappointed with the 6, especially coming from Samsung.

The 6s is a massive upgrade, though.

I bought the 6 yesterday as the prices dropped a bit in Oman. You'll wait a couple of months and pay a good bit more for a 6S.

You will miss the freedom of android, but if simplicity is what you want, an iPhone will be perfect.

Buy a cheapie until the iphone 7 is launched. The iphone 7 will look different and have better features. You will be locked into a 2 year contract and will regret not waiting for the 7.

The S is never a real upgrade anyway.

That's the thing. On a 2 year cycle you can have the new style every upgrade by opting for the 5/6/7 etc, instead of a souped up same looking older style by going for the S varieties.

I distaste the design of i6 and 6s. I'm gonna wait for the iPhone 7

So the logical thing is to go for each S model then.

That's not what i'm saying.

Look I know it doesn't matter in the grand scale of things, but I'm saying if you go with the S cycle, you'll be continually carrying an old style phone. In the first year of ownership it'll be an old design with new insides, in the second year it'll be last years style.

Going with the 4/5/6/7 when the new style comes out, you'll always have the latest style model. If that is important to you of course.

Just saying.

Lol the S is never a real upgrade? Why, because it's the same design as the 6?

Uhm A9 chip (70% faster then the A8), 2gb RAM, 12mp camera, 3D Touch, faster TouchID.

Yeah no, it's not a real upgrade lol

The S cycle seems to be where all the big spec improvements seem to happen. While they maintain the same design as the previous gen, they boost the specs on the S cycle. The 6s is an insane beast compared to the 6. Runs circles around the 6. In fact, geekbench scores it as fast as the retina MacBook. That's seriously impressive for a phone.

Forget design. It may not be Apples best design, but gd damn it's a beast of a phone.

It's without a doubt the fastest phone on the market today. Beats any android phone in real world performance hands down. In fact, beats all android phones in geekbench scores as well.

When Apple launched the 6s I was like, agh damn, not another same design phone. But as soon as the benchmarks started showing up, that's when I decided I'm going to get this. I can't wait to get my hands on it. Just 1 more month!

Nonsense, as Looney has pointed out WRT the 6s.

The 5s was also a massive upgrade over the 5.

As was the 4s over the 4.

All huge upgrades in performance and cameras.

I suggest buying phones cash where possible. Keeping them in good condition and taking advantage of higher Apple demand and resale value, and playing your cards right, means you can upgrade to each new model, standard and s, without much financial loss.

Sure. Lovely stuff indeed and the insides are a huge improvement. But hey, the 7 will raise the bar even higher next September and dwarf the 6s specs all over again

Man, if you can get a 6s for a good price from the US, grab it with both hands. No doubts about it.

Haha, every new gen iPhone is going to be better then the previous, it goes without saying. But if you look at the 5s vs 6, in terms of specs, it wasn't such a big upgrade. Yes it was a new design, but the A8 wasn't such a massive improvement over the A7, like 25% faster I think?

I have a feeling the 7 isn't going to be a big improvement over the 6s in terms of specs, just design. But the 7s is going to be a big improvement over the 7. It just seems like the S cycle is where things get really interesting.

The design of the 6/6s isn't the greatest, but I really don't mind it. The antenna lines and camera bug me a bit, but overall can't say I hate it. Bigger screen is great :)

My brother in law is going to the U.S next month to run the New York marathon. He's going to get a bunch of 6s while he's there to resell here at a profit of course, but I'll get one at the normal price :)

6s is a beast. I say wait! Your patience will be richly rewarded!

Kinks are ironed out with the s cycle as well as incremental upgrades, although this 6s has improved significantly in every regard over its predecessor, except ppi and battery capacity.

This could easily have been touted as the iPhone 7 and many would have accepted it as such.

What I don't understand with Apple is why don't they just release the S version as the initial release? Its like they make the S version, nerf it then release 2 versions.
