If that means that your GPS is connected to your iPhone, then all I can say, having used both, the standard GPS is 10000000 time better!!

OK, thanks, just looked at that..it looks very nice, provided it's user friendly and can take co-ordinates which I need.

Go for the deal at R1K. I just bought my wife the the XL 3 weeks back for R2K. A standalone navigator is so much better than a phones.

OK, I just checked the ad and its amazing. The RRP is R1600 (I nearly bought this one). Game has this one on special for R1100 but only with South African maps.

They do say it has maps on SD card which implies its the previous generation. (Yes it is the previous generation, the model that replaces it RRP R1900). No issue with them. The newer generation is a fleas hair thinner and no external SD card reader.

I did get an opportunity last month to test out 7 different navigator apps. They where all installed on a special demo unit navigator running WindowsCE. Getting to the point I saw that there where only 2 worth it: TomTom & Garmin

TomTom has the upper hand as the map upgrades are currently free and you can easly download/upload corrections from the web.

This is where my Garmin managed to get me at the end of last month...I wasn't too sure where the place was that I was going, and it told me to take a right off the main road...after 3 km I got to this spot...it got worse, with the road turning into a stream...than goodness the Polo handled it like a dream, but after another 2 km of this nonsense, I popped out back on the main road and I was about 500 metres from where I had turned off!!

Thinking of writing a book called "Travels with my Garmin"

I have a Nuvi 200W and tick the boxes in the settings menu to avoid unpaved roads ect.

Planned a trip from PE to Kimberley and the flippen thing took me on a 80km joy ride on a dirt road with my brand new car :-(

That is the Eurocar Rental that got me dreaming about buying a Polo again!! This one had the 6 speed Tiptronic box...an absolute delight to drive...I used the box manually on the dirt and went back to auto on the freeway...what a pleasure...also fantastic fuel consumption...6.4l/100 over 800km of mainly dirt roads....................now I want one for myself.........
