Top broadband connections in South Africa

So - the highest possible speed in SA on a 10mbps link is 6mbps.

Why not call the service 20mbps, or 100mpbs, or 1gbps for that matter. Call it infinite speed.

"ISP xxx now offering the fastest internet ever"

It doesn't make any difference as it seems you don't get what you sign up for anyway.

And (as ISP xxx), why not do a whole lot of speedtests at 3am from your core when usage is minimal - unthrottle the connection and really spike up the results so your company comes up on top. Customers won't know the difference - they're going to get 6mbps (or less) in any event

Those upload speeds look horrific. How come there's no results for fibre last-mile services? These are symmetrical services, so one would expect good upload speeds...

Most times when I do a speedtest, is when I think I have a connection problem. This will have a negative impact on the average for my network operator.

Hang on a minute,I might be reading this incorrectly(MyBroadband speed tests),guys on 10Mbps and paying for a 10Mbps are getting on average ~4Mbps?!?!?!?WTF!!!

No, what you are seeing is an average of speedtests conducted over a period of time. As I posted above, when do most folks do speedtests?

In that first list, VC deserves to be in the number 1 spot as much as Neotel deserves to be in the second spot. :erm:
