as an MTN user I disagree.

at work(sandton) I have H+ signal with full bars. I get 10mb/s download and 2 mb/s upload, and its all fine. and happy and consistent.

at home (Kempton Park) I have H+ signal with full bars and I get 0.5mb/s download and 0.001 upload.

I have logged calls, filled out the same form 4 times, never gotten a reference number each time, new ticket opened, no one can give feedback.

when MTN is good its great. but when its not good its the worst possible.

I think you hit the nail on the head. As a long time MTN subscriber, I have moved over to Vodacom and found their services to be more consistent overall with a much bigger footprint than MTN.

Was going to comment negatively about MTN but then again these are averages. Coz @ home, 8ta is on top followed by Cell c

I wish I could get those figures on CellC. Usually 0,4 to 0,5 Mbps, max was just above 2 Mbps.

This is very interesting stats....

I'm not one bit surprised that Cellc is last on that list. Their network speed is just not up to scratch. Vodacom a second is interesting but lets be honest Vodacom your LTE is letting you down. I stand to be corrected but I think MTN has the same amount of spectrum but their LTE is out preforming you on nearly every test. I'm pretty sure that could have played a role in your slower average download speed.

These stats tell a lot about a network actually. Cellc has a lot of people getting poor speeds for their average to be so low. MTN and Vodacom has to have a great amount of people getting very good speeds to push their average so high. We don't know the exact amount of speedtests counted but it shows the big 2 has good networks.

Coverage is another issue all together. I'm actually surprised that there is a gap of 1.36Mbps between Vodacom and MTN as I would image that gap to be a bit smaller especially when Vodacom is "The Best Network for Smartphones". It seems the stats are proving Vodacom wrong.
