The South African starting pricing for the new Suzuki Baleno GLX is R275,900.

This includes a 5-year/200,000km warranty and a 4-year/60,000km service plan

The Toyota Starlet XR has a South African starting price of R294,900.

Also included are a 3-year/100,000km warranty and a 3-services/45,000km service plan.

You have to be dumb as fck to buy the Toyota over the suzuki as it's essentially the same car.

South African consumers generally don't do any research on cars, they just go out on a weekend and buy a car, It's just a wonderful coincidence if the car turns out to have the necessary safety and convenience features.

Not really… South Africans buy Toyota over Suzuki because “Everything keeps going right) Remember the Toyota Aygo, Citroën C1 and Peugeot 107? Same ****ing car… you’ll sell the Toyota for MUCH more. SMFH

Exactly, yet it's the same bloody car. Toyota's showroom contains more suzuki's than Toyota's. At least here by us. I'll take a pic when I drive pass there again.

And the suzuki dealer is right across the road. With the same cars for cheaper with better warranties and service plans.

The mind boggles…. I rented a Suzuki Baleno(?) when I went up to GP… I was soooo impressed, in fact I said that I would not complain if I owned one. Unpretentious and underrated
