TopTV porn and sport channels fight on the cards

TopTV is still looking at bringing new channels to its pay-TV service, though no reportable progress has been made since late May.

So why the new article then? You've simply created a news story to tell us that absolutely nothing has changed. What a complete waste of time...
 
Top tv cannot compete with dstv on sports- so all that will happen is that they will end up with some second rate sports channels that no one cares about. why not rather offer a few more top tier channels with good, up to date programming.

Wake me up when more details emerge on what kind of porn. If its gonna be the same kind of porn that e-tv used to have/have then big snooooozzeee!
 
At least I think I can hear the penny jingling on the floor in the TopTV HQ corridor.

They have changed from their emphasis on movies. Clearly they are not delivering in that department too.

They should at least try with the sport - they are frankly acknowledging and prioritising that this time - it seems.

Second rate doesn't have to be the worst channel offerings they can find.

I feel they have not explored all option possible for instance bringing premium sportls club's channels like Chelsea, Arsenal, Milan, Juventus, Ajax Amsterdam etc that screen matches an hour or two after the live game. The same for other sports like F1, Rugby and Golf.

Where there is a will there is a way!

If there's an Arsenal TV channel then I'm sold. If F1 is shown, albeit delaed but on the same day then I got no use for dstv premium at all.
 
What's with all the hype over tv porn?! Everyone knows the INTERNET is for porn!

What SA TV need is a PsiFi channel.

Neither porn nor scifi is like to earn them the subscribers they need. It's too niche, they need some mainstream stuff.
 
Monochoice has some hold on Africa that one of the two pay tv broadcasters has to resort to porn.

Let us take the textbook saga: should the media not report on the issue because nothing was done? Is the fact that there is not progress sometimes big news?

These channels may prove to be very important for the TopTV’s future, so no deal may be really big news.

Yet on this occasion absolutely nothing happened. Nothing whatsoever to spark any public interest, as far as I can tell. Or if it did it certainly wasn't mentioned in the article. This was just a case of having an incredibly slow news day, a very inexperienced journalist (nobody begins an article with "nothing has changed, you might as well stop reading now") and a topic that you thought would spark debate amongst forumites. Sponsored, perhaps? As far as news goes, it is a pretty awful piece. It isn't news. The headline implies developments and a story to be had here but reading it you realise it is actually just a synopsis of events that took place ages ago already and was heavily reported on.

By your logic, an article titled "Train crash victims die without compensation" could have sweet buggerall to do with current events, as long as it references a train crash that took place at some point in the past and they didn't receive compensation back then. Could have been 1970 for all we care.

To say that no news is newsworthy by default is silly. It's called creating the news, and that's not a journalist's job...

Nooo come on... TopTV is much worst than Neotel, for all NT's bads, they still supply the backhaul for the Seacom cable, which means they assisted in bringing down data tariffs. All TopTV has done is justified DSTV horrendously expensive rates. For double the price of TopTV(R279 x 2), you get 100 times better channels. I'm one of the silly subscribers still backing TopTV. Maar ja, it's getting lonely! And no I don't want a stupid porn channel, or more sh*t music, african movie channels, or any other rubbish 3rd rate channels... give us up-to-date mainstream series from the big content providers, not 2 seasons back!

TopTV would be doing so much better if they consolidated to 10 premium quality channels instead of 50+ rubbish ones!
 
Until TopTV can provide decent sport IN HD... I'm not interested.
