TopTV struggling to compete with DStv

Can't see MC giving up without a good fight. The Top TV receivers are not technically advanced. Poor composite video picture, nothing special to watch. Neighbour has had it since inception when it was practically given away, but says he is not impressed

Give me the sport channels and I'll cancel DSTV today. That's all we ever watch on it - sport. I still hire movies - that way I can watch what I want, when I want.
 
Sport and I'm yours for a long long time.
 
Leaving aside content they need to get their billing dept sorted, they don't have online account management (can't fault DSTV in this regard) and don't email your monthly statement unless you phone the help desk which seems to be their sole interface with clients.

Dear Top TV,

If you want to kill off Monochoice, its fairly easy, create a Netflicks like system,that offers hd streaming, needs no subscription, and is affordable for the masses,not the R25 that DSTV expects already subscribed customers to pay.Later on when DSTV is at its weakest, start adding your series to it, and fund it via ad revenue, like what Hulu has done.Stop focusing on a old non functional system like satalite.

Stop repeating the same programming over and over again.
 
One problem that Top TV faces is that you need another dish, pointing in the opposite direction. Many complexes and flats will not allow multiple dishes pointing in different directions.

It is coming. It is called SABC via digital terrestrial broadcasting. Some time after 2020 I think
 
TopTV's billing system was horrible. I had a debit order with them, and on three separate occasions they did a double debit on my account, and at some later stage, they stopped debiting my account all together and cut me off. Re-aligned my dish myself, went back to DSTV.
 
I'm not surprised. DSTV has HD channels and all the sport relevant to SA. The vast majority of their subscribers are not prepared to give that up.
 
Only worthwhile thing on DSTV is the sports channels. I just checked all the movie channels for something to watch/record. Nothing worthwhile in the next 24 hours.
 
I think those 300 thousand odd TopTv subscribers cancelled due to the constant repeats, they must have known about the lack of sport content before they bought TopTv.
