Ok guys, I basically know jack **** about torrents, how they work, blah blah blah. I DO know that they are supposedly shaped to death.

I have just under 2Gb left for tonight, so I decided to play around a bit.

Check the download speeds I am getting:

Any ideas why it is so high?

Actually, I've been getting good speeds on amule and gtk-gnutella (both P2P apps) maybe they were 'loose' on P2P this month.

I've been getting up to 90KB/s with the p2p app that i'm using:D

Although it's not always that fast, I'd say it averages out at about 20KB/s

I'm using the 3 gig package

Mine goes 52K, all the time, if i decide to use torrents, you just gotta get the files at the right places.
one week though, it never pushed above the 38K, mark, but that was about 4 months ago, so i never really had slow torrents. Dunno maybe im lucky.

Yes I also get 0kbs unless I get a crapy free proxy from
{slowest speed limit of about 6 peers or less than 1kB/s)
http://www.freeproxy.ru/en/free_proxy/

Or

Get a good free proxy from
{Good speeds up to so far 20kB no limt on peers}
http://openweb.co.za/openweb/index.php/board,86.0.html

Or

Brilliant donation based proxy from
{I assume speeds are still briliant the last time I used it I got 50kB from any p2p I tryed and my telkom test also only gave me 50kB ie that was my max speed... have applied again already}

As far as I remember torrents are not shaped on IBurst. I don't think anyone there has the mental capacity to do packet shaping. Instead, they limit the number of concurrent connections that you can make. This is where you lose all your speed, as you can only make something ridiculous like 6 connections similtaneously. When I still used Iburst, the best way I found around this was to play with the Maximum Connections per task and Connections to keep per task options. My settings for bitlord were:
Listen port 110
Maximum Connections per task: 100
Connections to keep per task: 20
Play around until you get to around 60K. Make sure you don't start two torrents similtaneously. Start them 30 mins apart.

NJoy it while it lasts. To those who found this trick out 6 months ago, sorry for leaking ;)

Cheers
