...

Also need to mention, we had 3 kids along. The interior of the Etios Cross is bigger, much bigger than that of the sedan and hatch, however, they have given up a lot of boot space...

An Etios hatchback's interior gets bigger when you stick some plastic bits to the outside? What a time to be alive.

so how many of you have actually driven this car? why is his experience of driving the car trumped by the articles you guys have read? surely he would be in a better position to comment on this car having actually driven it.

I had it for 3 weeks as a rental - the normal hatch not the super pimped Etios Cross - and it's a POS.

Not only have I driven it, but I went to the launch and then had to drive the damned thing on a daily basis for 2 months..

It is horrible, with absolutely NO redeeming features, as far as I am concerned.

And he would also be in a better position to be affected by bias. I have driven an Etios and been in a cross, luckily not for long periods of time.

Hell Fazda used to sell the damn things, if anything he should be the one with the largest vote in the matter.

I was meant to have a standard Etios for 2 weeks as a rental, drove it for 2 days and went back and swapped the car.. It was HORRIBLE... and since all the Etios Cross has is a few extra bits of plastic, I would expect it to be even worse.

I have. It's not great. I also rather doubt the sincerity the supposed purchase we're discussing.

Had it as a rental for a week. It's quite awful.

I too have had it as a Rental. As bad, if not worse than the old Sandero (new Sandero is much better)

I've driven a regular one.

It's one of the few modern cars that are complete rubbish; from the first touch of the cheap sheet metal door handle to the lack of sound deadening and everything in between.

Only somebody seriously lacking in life experience could be happy with one of these.

It seems like the Etios attracts a certain type of owner.

Here is another:
http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/659985-Car-buyer-suggestions/page3

Prefers driving an Etios to a GTI and is buying a SQ5 for weekends (which looks like didnt materialize)

The idiocy continues... My friend has a GT86 and bought an etios hatch to drive during the week so he could keep the 86 as a weekend machine.

Why would you relegate your coupe to drive a POS majority of the time?

The 'logic' astounds me.

It feels more sturdy, offer better performance and is great on the road at speeds of 140km - 160km. I tried, on a few occasions to get the backend of the car spin out around corners, but it was fixed on the road.

FFS

Really.

FWD FYI
