Explain.

And point me in the direction of a 2005 Rav 4 2 door (82000km) alone for R70,000.

He said for both he would have piad R70 000. These are 2nd hand japanese imports, since the rand is doing quite well at the moment you can easily get a nice car for about $3000-$5000.

Got my car 2 years ago from a japanese auction(my dad went to visit the country) costed $2200 inlcuding shipping. Also had to register in bots.

I am fully aware of that hence me making the offer to just find the one for R70,000 to prove my point.

So it is not all above board as suspected.

Bots import taxes work out to about 20% of the total value of the vehicle then registration is about R250 and away you go.

If one keeps them registered for more than 2 years in Bots you can bring them into SA tax free! but holy smoke it is a lot of paperwork. Did my MR2 Turbo like that.

Well it is illegal for me. I reside in SA.

If they make it illegal for you to take a crap then you'd gladly oblige wouldn't you?

This is part of the reason for the excessive pricing in SA - manufacturers here enjoy a protected industry.
