If they leave Durban, it won't be to another place in SA... they will beef up capacity at other existing facilities around the globe.

Toyota will not invest in a whole new plant in the same country.

Personally though, it is highly unlikely that Toyota will pull out, but they may scale down future investments for a good long while. The current operation in Durban is vitally important to them for the right hand drive markets.
The mere fact that they would consider closing shop here is a huge red flag. But maybe the cANCer and their collective 5 brain cells needs to be smacked in the face repeatedly with red flag before they stop smelling each others butt holes and realize SA is going down in flames.

Oh 100%.. its a HUGE HUGE red flag and needs to be treated with the seriousness it deserves.

They will join BMW and Nissan in Rosslyn, Pretoria.
Toyota is one company is highly unlikely to piss away billions in transporting parts by road and then transporting vehicles back down to the coast for export.

You seem to be forgetting that Gauteng also experienced riots.

If Toyota does move out of KZN it would be to PE or move their operations out of South Africa entirely.

Problem with this is if... when Toyota leave, other international companies in KZN will also follow.

Once the KZN economy has been decimated, I mean decolonized, those that can will either leave the country or move to another province. Which will lead to the migration of the looters and rioters from KZN to other parts of the country and that will lead to the collapse of SA or the rise of Wakanda as the clowns in charge will have you believe.

Sounds like empty threats to me.
Sure companies considering investing in operations in Durban will think twice.

I am in auto production (ZA, US, Europe) and things were already shaky in 2019, this is certainly not helping. There are more favorable options opening up in eastern Europe which are more stable and if taking huge logistics costs out the equation price competitively with our offerings.

Adding to the fact that taking the billions of invest in ZAR I have been exposed to and turning that into EUROS is a drop in the ocean if it means moving production to a more stable region will bring stability to the supply chain. Few understand this.

Much will be riding on governments handling of the situation now. If the guilty architects of this are quickly caught and given hefty sentences and concrete action taken against the ineptitude of law enforcement and intelligence etc in preventing this from happening, then maybe all is not lost.
But, again, absolutely no reason to believe that this will happen, if the past is anything to go by.

Oh honestly FFFS (for fcking fck sakes). That's a large part of DBN gone if they pull out.
COnsider what MBSA and VWSA/Isuzu Trucks South Africa do for East London & PLZ and that's the collapse of these 2 cities. It could end up being like a house of cards if Toyota decide to not invest and wind down operations.

The impact of Toyota pulling out with be huge. The direct impact on the employees as well as on all the suppliers that produce the sub components. This is really sad news and our government needs to take this seriously.

Wait for the "Toyota is racist and needs to be nationalised" speech to follow if this happens.
