Toyota warns South Africa

Toyota South Africa CEO Andrew Kirby warned that the country is entering a phase of deindustrialisation, which requires urgent government intervention.

Kirby made these comments during a breakfast seminar organised by the National Association of Automotive Component and Allied Manufacturers (NAACAM).

Government and Manufactures are equally to blame for the current situation.
Also having these large glass palaces are not helping to sell their vehicles. The average Thai dealership is a lot smaller and more comparable to a corner cafe shop.

North Africa is already gearing up to take South Africa's place, logistically it makes sense. Our entire output, passenger and commercial combined fluctuates between .4.-.6 % of world output last I checked . The amount of ball ache to accomplish that is just not worth it IMO. In many cases OEM's are here for sentimental reasons anyways. Plants will close and China will buy them.

FietaST what is that?
There are many good articles that go in great detail.

This is an important reason why:

The Australian car industry closed due to increased competition from imports due to the progressive removal of tariffs.

Defo worth a read:

If I was Toyota. I will close all plant manufacturing and build in Thailand instead. With Eskom Price hikes targeting about 40% again, it will be unsustainable to manufacture here.

Can we buy a Toyota on Temu as yet?

Great idea, so says Kirby and thousands of people employed by TMSA and TMC in Japan. They waste wasted billions in new investment at Prospecton.
