Hi Guys, my wifey's car needs to go for the 30 000km service soon...Before I go to Toyota and ask for prices what should be done. I haven't looked in the handbook yet but I'm sure for a small engine like this it should be a one hour job at most...air filter, oil, water, plug(s) and check???

We don't live where we bought the car anymore so I'm not so certain about the service I'll get here where I live now...Anyone know how much a Yaris service should cost and what will be done based on experience?

Also everything else is good, we bought the car in KBY and when it went for the 1st service I was still working in CT and she took it in, when I came back a couple of months later the clutch was very heavy and had much play on it...the car didn't drive like a new car anymore...

I know out of experience with other Toyota's that Toyota will try and add other crap that don't need replacing...like brakes and crap...the car's brakes is fine, everything else is fine...So I'ma take it in this week and see how they try to lie to me now again!;)

Toyota services are a bit expensive.
30000km is a major service.
You must check brakes though visually. If you start 'feeling' that the brakes need changing, it will cost more as the discs may have been damaged.

A friend of mine (Tazz) told me 1-2k. When he had to fix something, Toyota told him 16k. He got someone else for 2.5k.
Heck even my wife's Hyundai (Getz) costs cheaper to service.
Toyota just amazes me, high prices for cars, service...
But bulletproof engines, best resale...

Yep got off the phone and they told me R1316
Change engine oil,
all filters
something to do with a sump??? Didn'thear the woman correctly
brake and clutch fluid
check...

I think its their labour that's so expensive...How can 30 000km's be a majour service? Joh...

My Alfa's 30 000km service was 1800 including front brake pads and new globes...joh Toyota is full of ****e...

I'll take it in tomorrow and I can almost guarantee they'll try to rip me off by saying I should change this and that...guarantee!

I'll do a pre-service inspection this afternoon with the brakes and suspension components just to see if anything looks wrong...

Haha! That is pretty rough for such a low mileage!

I paid R2200 on Friday for my 2001 model Astra's 165,000km service.
Needless to say this was NOT done at GM but as the local Bosch service center.

car services are a rip off. a toyota yaris is a light car. so the factory brakes the car came with should last you until 60000km odd. i changed my brakes when they were on 45000km because i do brake a lot. that used to be in my golf. i just did the service they call major, parts cost me under R300,

Change engine oil,
all filters(petrol, air, iol)
something to do with a sump??? Didn't hear the woman correctly- that's where you drain the engine oil...
brake and clutch fluid

and i would say until 90000km the services that you do are a one hour job...

stealers rip people off... labour rates range from R300 - R700 p/hour

Yep...to tell you the truth, I'd do all this crap myself but my wife is of those...if its done by Toyota you know its right kinda people...they've been driving Toyota and Merc all their livesso obvioulsy the sun shines better up those 2 Marquees...lol.

But ya, taking it in tomorrow and will fork out the bill, lemme just make her happy by looking after the Yaris as much as I do the Alfa...the woman don't complain when I spend 5k+ on the Alfa...so I guess I could just take the car to her desired service centre...eish
