Trade war escalation causes drop in Apple shares

Semiconductor companies and Apple Inc. fell sharply on Friday, as the trade war between the U.S. and China continued to escalate.

China’s Ministry of Finance said the country plans to levy retaliatory tariffs on another $75 billion of U.S. goods, pressuring the securities in pre-market trading. [Bloomberg]

The damage to Apple's share price is kind of irrelevant. The damage to regular consumers is the problem.

J.P. Morgan estimates the average American household will be down $1,000 per year thanks to the newest round of tariffs on Chinese goods.
