Transfer contract airtime - or anything useful with it

Hi

So my contract is coming to an end and I have R1500 airtime remaining. The MTN people tell me I can't keep this airtime if I downgrade or otherwise change my contract.

Is there any way to transfer this airtime to someone else or some service to cash it out at all?

Otherwise, is there anything at all vaguely useful I can do with this airtime? Maybe donate it to charity by repeatedly sms'ing some number. Any ideas?

Transfer it to a prepaid sim.

We are currently in the throws of developing an application whereby you will be able to swop out airtime for cash.

PM me in the new year and I will be able to help you.

I do have a way actually but its not cheap though....

SMS the MTN number you want to transfer the airtime to to 39745

The SMS costs R15 and the other number will be recharged with R8

Sadly its not that cheap but works. Its a service from smartcall called load a buddy

I SMS Wetnose (Nose to 40131) and Tshwane Place of Safety Association (HELP to 42137 ) to get rid of my excessive MTN airtime (anything built up over my R300 emergency phone calls stash)

It's such a pity that MTN is able to simply destroy the value of something that you've accumulated, when they've provided no service in return.

That's awesome I had this idea but no clue how to implement it glad someone's working on it! Will it be locked to certain service providers?

Yeah, we have been working on this for 3 years now.

We will start with MTN and VC and then roll out to the others.
