No data but it saves trying to sort out which apps you want downloaded and installed again in the Play store especially if you have previously uninstalled a lot of apps. That's just copying the APKs though...not actually the data held within.
So it's no different from going to the Play Store to MyApps and downloading everything you've ever had installed again (other than there will be no data consumption when copying from phone to phone).
Hi guys
I just want to know what is the best way to transfer all of my data and apps from my current Xperia Z1 to my new Z5.
Thanks
Please expand on that, I'd like to know how that is done, will Google install only the apps that were on the old phone or every app you've ever bought or installed previously?Log in with your original Google account on your new phone. That's it.
+1 If the Z1 is on Lollipop you can just sign in with your Google account. Whatsapp you can backup via GDrive.Log in with your original Google account on your new phone. That's it.

Yip, that's what I want to know, seems there may be a way that the Play store only installs what's on your last device? It keeps a current list and a everything ever list so maybe that's how. That said my Z3 didn't auto-install a thing despite sync being active for a while (I generally have it off cuz there's nothing to sync). I manually selected each and every single thing so maybe that only applies to connecting the Play Store after a factory wipe on the same phone rather than a new phone?

But what happens if you have 2 phones and a tablet and get a third phone, what apps will be installed?
I've never seen that before either, that's perfect, how to you get to that window?
How does Google play know what apps from the possibly 100s of previously installed apps you want on the new phone?

How do you get to that window because I've never been prompted for it when opening the play store for the first time on a new phone? The ones he last had installed on his phone. It's not rocket science.
It's on the OOBE setup screen when you first boot the device on stock Android or AOSP (Cyanogenmod etc.). Not sure about custom skins like touchwizz and Sony etc.How do you get to that window because I've never been prompted for it when opening the play store for the first time on a new phone?
Ok never seen it on stock Samsung, Sony or LG, wonder if that feature is there. I have heard of something like this before, anyone know how to get it on a stock rom? It's on the OOBE setup screen when you first boot the device on stock Android or AOSP (Cyanogenmod etc.).
