Warning about driving licence card tender in South Africa

South Africa's minister of transport, Barbara Creecy, has been advised against cancelling the driving licence card tender awarded to Idemia, the City Press reports.

Creecy instructed the Department of Transport (DoT) to approach the High Court for a declaratory order to cancel the tender following the Auditor General of South Africa's (AGSA) investigation.

However, the DoT’s chief director of legal services, Advocate Adam Masombuka, said cancelling the contract would result in an interdict and a protracted review legal process.

He says this route “can take years” as opposed to appointing the preferred bidder.
Do the morally right thing.
We can't reward corruption.
There is no reason not to expedite the legal case so it takes 1 or two months.
If Idemia persists, issue a government directive blacklisting them from any government work or even blacklist them from ZA.
Use the excuse "for security reasons".
Blacklisting for security reasons works in US, it can work in ZA.

I predicted exactly this in a recent thread. Abducation of responsibility to govern. Aka: "Protect me from myself"...

I think we all knew it would be tried to be used.
Even though we all know the tender is corrupt as fsck, it needs to continue cos of "delays".. aka we've promised people their little bit of "lunch" so we must continue.
