Travel advice. Miami or California?

California as a whole is nicer than Florida as a whole. In Miami you do have the Keys though which are quite nice. But I wouldn't say Miami is a nice city at all. It's muggy and gang-ridden and fake. If you are doing the Disney thing, Disneyworld is miles ahead of Disneyland. Otherwise California has a much greater diversity and culture. You've got the beachside surfing Hollywood LA thing; the alternative SF side; the Napa Valley; the desert; and the north of California is exceptionally beautiful if you're driving up.

I agree with cerebus. The area around SF and LA just has a lot more going for it. Plus, you don't have to deal with the constant humidity.

San Francisco is great - pity everything shuts down at 2am though. I liked LA too - a bit superficial, but for a visitor at least, that's part of the charm. Personally I would take NY or Chicago any day though (unless you're planning a winter visit - although walking about in a huge city covered in snow is still pretty awesome).

You didn't find the dodgy bars in San Francisco. ;) You can keep on going until 4AM.

+1 for SF or New York the people were much more interesting and diverse as well as the sites and sounds.

I did not like Miami or the people there at all.

Go to California. Miami is like Durban, but instead of black people, substitute old rich white people.

Los Angeles is best avoided, but SF is very interesting and not as crowded. San Diego also worth a visit and you can pop over the border and visit Mexico. There you jump straight into a third world country, quite different from SA
Miami is nothing like Durban, lololol.

OP how old are you? If you are 18-24 go to Miami. If you are older go to California.
