Was there in December and its flippen cold so forget about it being so hot ...
What are you saying ?

Minimum temp right now is in the 13's and climbing as the days go by.

Forget that for now, how was your experience ?

Did you lose your head as @Nemoneiros claims what will happen to people who visit the country ?

All that means shyte to me, cos my question is based on Egypt at this point in time.

I too travelled the entire world already, so its all seconds now.

What I did first time round counts for nothing unless it was done recently.

So if you gonna tell me "ANY other country" , then give me a reason why not visit Egypt and what other country you recommend.

Congratulations...since I answered @RedViking not you.

Egypt is a schithole...that's why. So I recommend any other country outside of Africa.

Clear enough now?

No, not clear enough, cos you gave zero reasons why, and to top it off, you assume that the world is open to me when it's not.

So as they say, if you have nothing valuable to say , then shut it.

Sharm is scuba diver heaven. So do a dive course before you go there!
Yeah, I have friends who go dive there every year. Although they never say much besides talking about the diving.

My brother, his wife, her sister and hubby went to Zanzibar. Mid February. All tourist attractions were open with fairly relaxed covid restrictions. Besides the mandatory test upon entering and exiting. He was highly impressed.

Been to Egypt 2 years ago Alexandria, lovely beaches and weather, wouldn't want to drive on their public roads with my family, unless it is an armored vehicle or atleast 5 star ncap car.

I was just saying that is was very cold in December when I went. The sun is out and everything but you need to wear a jacket and can't swim in a pool or anything.

The experience was ok. Tourism is down so its a plus for us wrt no queues / lines etc. You could pretty much go wherever anytime you want and not wait for long.

I did not lose my head and had no problems.

Actually I just spoke to 3 other families who went recently and said all was fine and enjoyable.

so thanks for your input, much appreciated.

as for the weather , yes December is cold. My trip back in 08/09 was also in December/Jan.

but right now temps look very enjoyable, with next weeks minimum temp forecast showing as 16 and maximum as 31.

Remember to take lots of photos and I am very interested in what your experience was there and the places you have visited.

Do you have any particular thing you love to do (besides looking for WG :p) when you go on holiday?
I am not much of a swimmer, I believe we have been given feet for a reason. lol. So a beach is not very attractive to me (unless there is a nice view and food). But I don't go lie on the sand like a dead fish. Doing a bit of snorkeling is nice (not scuba, no thank you).

Like to explore and checkout places that interest local culture.

I love Architecture and Buildings, specially those with historical value.

Love lots of food (local, not interested in the shops catering for foreigners so they can enjoy their foreign food), local coffee and nature. Generally mountains and forest. But of course this will be location specific I guess.

Then i guess almost any country in the world is a good visit for you.

Which countries have you already visited ?

Turkey / Istanbul is also a good option, based upon the current options South African passport holders have.

Also pretty cheap currently, a based upon your requirements (Food, architecture, local coffee etc.)

Some salty chaps in this thread

Def wouldn't risk travel to a country with sketchy health infra during these times though.

The main issue is still Covid, we have no real idea what the winter is going to bring SA, nevermind what's going to be happening in Egypt at the end of the year.

If I wanted to get away I'd try some closer by places that doesn't cost much in the way of deposits etc.
