Interesting that they're basically saying they captured the state, a charge Zuma refuses to admit lol.

Gupta nephews are US citizens. I wonder why they were not included in this list. Maybe this is ongoing investigation.

The SAPS and NPA definitely was involved. But, they did not initiate this. Back in 2017 the FT already reported that the FBI was indeed looking at the Guptas. At the time it was reported that they had US interests and also family living there if I remember correctly.

More likely to do with transactions done in US currency which were suspected money laundering activities.

May very well be. All that we know is that Afriforum have reported the Guptas to the US either late 2016 or early 2017 on one of their visits there. But, the FBI and the DOJ refused to make any information known about their investigation at the time. Then again, the fact that no criminal prosecutions was announced make your statement rather unlikely.

I know that Afriforum did definitely report the Guptas to the US. I do not know what happened subsequently, but I do suspect that the actions today may have something to do with it. I remember back then there were discussions on that and many people did not think the Guptas had business dealing in or with the US back then.

South African law enforcement agencies have issued mutual legal assistance requests to eight countries around the world, including the United States.
Which 8? Emirates, USA, India, UK, Singapore, China .......

One thing I’m fascinated about is why the audit firms aren’t mentioned? Is because naming one implicates their own? I mean the audit firms had a major role to play..

Convey my thanks to roets when you meet next time around then. Well done I think. He is one of the unsung heroes of the nation.

Why'd you start another thread Fourie? You are busy participating in the other one yet you go start another?

This was actually the first one, if you were able to read time stamps on the posts. I posted this before News24 even knew about it.

Many countries do on a regular basis Lou.

Robert was on this list as well, and he still travelled to Singapore regularly, and did business in many other places as well. Hell even the EU at times.
They would circumvent that in a way. He won't use an account in his own name. He probably had a government credit card.

All SA banks sanction screen customers and can't do business with anyone on a section list. Supposedly to stop money laundering, but I'm not sure how effective it is I've never came across anyone that was actually sanctioned.

No need to wait and see really, its almost a guarantee that they WON'T list any SA Government official. The political fallout would be immense.

I wouldn't be so sure... the current US administration seems to have a "shoot first, ask questions later" attitude.

True. Because the ANC is involved in the criminal syndicate and highly placed members of the ANC and government were mentioned in the report, I think they are doing the official notifications first. I think the s**t will be going down with more sanctions real soon.
