Trevor Noah has responded after a second public figure called him out for his comments on the backlash against newly elected UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

On Thursday, former UK cabinet minister Sajid Javid called the South African comedian's comments during a Between the Scenes clip on The Daily Show "simply wrong," adding, "Britain is the most successful multiracial democracy on earth and proud of this historic achievement."

Controversial British broadcaster Piers Morgan also weighed in, tweeting, "There's been no such backlash against Sunak, you race-baiting twerps."

He also asked, "Why does US media keep falsely portraying Britain as a racist country?"

Noah on Friday responded to Morgan's tweet.

"C'mon, Piers, you're smarter than that. I wasn't saying, 'The entire UK is racist'; I was responding to the racists who don't want Rishi as PM because of his race. That's why I said, 'Some people'.

He ended his tweet with an upside-down smiling emoji.

I am disgusted with Trevor Noah. Never thought he was such a big racist hating white people so much. He should just f**k off the bigot he is.

You are exactly the kind of person he was referring to.

He’s not racist on any level, his own father is as white as they come which is all the more reason he can make comments like these without any issues.

Trevor Noah is paid to present a certain narrative. If a story does not fit that narrative then the show's writers need to dig deep on internet to find a comment from someone arbitrary that does fit it. Trevor then presents the show based around that obscure comment as if it is the main focus of the story.

I watched this episode and was struck by how much it resembled the methods of the far right YouTube presenters. Guess he has learned a few things since being in the US and has followed this tactic a few times now.

Trevor Noah is ignorant - shock (not really).

It is more revealing how far left late night comedy is in the US that anything else. I read lots of UK media, there was no blowback based on his race but rather due to other issues.

Didn’t see anything in the media, but plenty of it on Twitter so it’s definitely in the steam of conscious.

Let’s not pretend the world (including the UK) isn’t full of racist who would have exactly these views.

Trevor did showcase some clips as well so even if one existed it was enough.

Actually the defensive responses to a comedian shows that there's something underneath. It's not like mainstream Britain is going to openly admit to discomfort over a PM of colour.

Exactly.

If it didn’t bit some truth nobody would have made any fuss.

You and Noah are doing the pretending. And have been called out.

Bloody fragile white people.

Oh dear. I can give you plenty examples of just how fragile black people are in SA alone. Your post is one of them. And Sajid Javid that called Noah out doesn't sound white to me.
