Hamas are a bunch of crazies, no argument from me. But their whole MO is to blend with the Palestinian population, a Hamas member who went around dressed like a militant wouldn't last very long. If you want to keep a paramilitary/terrorist organization secret, you don't generally go around putting up flyers when you set up new offices.

The people around them know who Hamas members are and support them. Not supporting them gets execution. No grey areas.
