Well my old VHS machine has finally died, don't see much point in repairs as VHS tapes also no longer available. Do not want to go the DSTV/Decoder, route!!

Any suggestions on a simple way to be able to record programs to watch later. Often late night movies and of course the dear wife's 7de Laan if she misses it.

Was looking at a DVR option, but they seem to be in short supply as well so my question is:

Is there a way that I can recreate the usefulness of the old VHS systems using modern and available technology at a reasonable cost??

Please PM me details, unfortunately I live in Cape Town but have a Sister-in-Law in Krugersdorp who could have a look at it if interested.

I've got a low end Sansui VHS that's been sitting in the cupboard for ages, if you can organise to get it from PE it's yours for free.

PM me if interested.

The problem with the VHS videos are it is becoming more and more difficult to source decent tapes for recording.

Thanks for the offer MickZA but need to look at moving away from VHS, as others have commented here tapes no longer available and degrade with age anyway.

I'm sure you can find a VCR in cash converters or cash crusaders for less than R1000 plus some tapes.

Ill keep an eye out for you.

Already connected and working like a charm!
