The circuit board Eskom CEO André de Ruyter found under the driver’s seat of his Volvo was likely the panic button of a pre-fitted tracking system.

“Based off of the photos that you have sent us, our third-party supplier Tracker have informed us that this could be one of their older devices that were fitted to Volvos a few years ago,” a Volvo spokesperson told MyBroadband.

Reminds me of a saying we had in school. "Hy het sy naam met 'n plank geslaan"..... meaning he severely embarrassed himself _ that would be Fivaz et al.

This must the the funniest article I've read in a very long time!

This George Fivaz guy is a world class joke!
He's no electronics buff. Some electronics devices do look similar. Don't tell me you've never mistaken one thing for the other.

Then he should rather have kept quiet about nsa level spying devices until he could get someone who does know to confirm.
You mean you've never loudly misidentified something? It's embarrassing. He's not the one who took the story to the media afaik.

He could have just said... we are investigating.

Now he goes full tilt about "beyond anything SA".... lol
Yes, he got a little overzealous, to the detriment of his reputation. However, there's a chance it may have looked like something he has worked with before. He jumped to conclusion based on incomplete evidence.
