But for me what is interesting is 2 days of effort from say 20 people at an average of say R30k per month has netted a good few million in revenue that was outstanding.

If I remember correctly, that;s called doing your job.

Big question is WHO and WHY is allowing the connections to remain. As a house owner Tshwane cuts you off within a month, no questions asked. How much kick is paid and the WHOM? How many "selected" home owners do not pay and they remain connected. I am sure there is a lot of corruption going in in Tshwane where people remain connected by paying someone a "fee".
I support this action, it is about time the new South Africa learn the colonial tradition of paying for services. Nothing is for free, and do not come and claim it because it is your human right. The fewer people paying for a service makes it more expensive for the poor suckers who pays for everybody else.

Many of the buildings cut off are in active disputes with Tshwane. The city is putting up this display of 'kragdadigheid' while they know many of the accounts are being disputed. Most businesses paid because they were put in an impossible position. The city will soon be forced to pay back these amounts once the disputes are resolved.

Consol Glass also felt the City’s wrath after they had their service cut off on Thursday following a R10 million debt.

Some of the notable commercial businesses on the list include the SA State Theatre, which has also been disconnected owing to R2.1m debt. Another is the Department of Infrastructure Development, which owes R260m in rates and services.
