Seems Solar electricity not as good as Eskom electricity.

Stupid Metro, they buy Electricity from Eskom at over R1.00 instead of getting cheaper from residents

My excess gets used by the mining rigs in my basement, along with my neighbour siphoning a little off me because he is a cynical old Afrikaner guy (Typical Afrikaner, like khaki shorts and sandals) and has medical issues that makes him not able to work.

Might as well make some $$$ out of it.

Makes sense for the municipality as it's not as if they have a short fall. They have an Eskom feed for which they pay and it covers all their needs, in theory anyway so, anything extra is just that and they won't want to incentivise people to spend less on their frivolous connection fees and other extortions.

What about those with the old electricity meters that flow back? They must be saving tons.

That's us.. Still pay around R1300 per month, but before solar it used to be nearly R3k.
The meter reverses slowly when there's excess energy - although usually it would just stand still..

Of course, main reason we went solar isn't for the 'saving', but rather because Eskom is so unreliable, with loadshedding and random faults.

Decent saving but in terms of this article you essentially get 'payed' what you pay for electricity kw/h for kw/h and you also don't have any fee's right?

Just another half informed MyBB article.

You essentially make the wire live so when the municipality have to work and they turn off the supply you are still feeding electricity from the other side.
And any decent inverter has anti islanding and must comply with regulations requiring it to disconnect from the grid if the grid goes down.

I know my inverter does this whenever they switch off to work on the lines in the road.

Sure a decent inverter but how many can afford those versus a cheap Chinese inverter that will most likely flood the market without the safety features.

I hope you registered yourself as an electricity provider, it's the right thing to do..

My cheap chinese inverter would shut down when the grid disconnected. Was pain because the PV would also stop. Old tech grid tied setup.

Now my Sunsynk works it’s own magic voodoo.

I keep an eye on my meter and help Eskom a little bit here and there to keep my bill around R200 a month.

Good arrangement as long as they don’t find out.

Actually most have that feature even the cheaper ones, mine has it and it's not one of the expensive type.

Well that's cause you went grid tied
