Basically it's like Netflix but free.

Check out the South African Catalogue here: https://tubitv.com/home

US Catalog (access via VPN): https://www.justwatch.com/us/provider/tubi-tv

Currently the South African catalogue is mostly stuff you'd find on those DSTV channels almost nobody watches. There's a few Stand Up Specials worth seeing. I think as more South Africans use this service the better the quality of the catalogue will become.

Tubi is available for free on Android, iOS, Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Xbox, Samsung Smart TVs, Sony Smart TVs, PlayStation and the web.

I think I must be seeing the US catalogue. Probably because I'm using Getflix?

Didn't even realize this was one of the supported channels for that DNS service.

Yup looks like it.

Not to derail but I just quickly checked it out on Android as well. (Mi Box and Nvidia Shield).
Tubi apk ver. 2.14.3

Interestingly, I'm not seeing the US version here. Even though the DNS (Getflix) config in my router is as it should be.
Strange that they (Getflix) would have this as a supported channel on PC only?

Just out of curiosity, took out a free trial for ExpressVPN, and connected to a US location. Now the Tubi US catalogue works fine on those Android devices.

I've tested the VPN on Opera, Asian IP refused to load, European IP gives a GDPR message, US IP gave the SA catalogue.

Looks like Tubi bought up all the videos, not dvd's, in a rental shop and uploaded it...what would be the point of this???

Are you getting ads on the US version? I scrubbed through various videos on the standard version and haven't come across any ads, yet to actually sit and fully watch any their content yet though.

Haven't bothered too much with it via PC yet, but I have sat through a couple movies thus far via the Mi Box. Yes, there are ads that pop up randomly here.
They seem very particular in pushing quite often that Intel Optane ad featuring Jim Parsons (he of Sheldon fame-Big Bang Theory). lol
They're not overly intrusive, though. I think about a minutes length each time that they pop up. As I recall, it was about a handful of times during those movies.

I would have liked to have seen how an app like Blockada would have fared with Tubi. Blockada works perfectly for me with Sony Crackle. It blocks all ads there. But in this case I can't use it as it can't run simultaneously with the Express VPN trial I'm using to access the Tubi US catalogue.

So it's a legal app and not something like Terrarium/Morpheus?

Pluto.tv the US version is great as well and it integrates with the TV line up on most android TV boxes

Installed it on my MI Box. Busy watching some old comedy. Quality is fine and it doesn't buffer like DStv now

For the most part, it looks like trash. No thanks.
