The White House announced late Sunday that Turkey will soon move forward with its planned military operation in northeast Syria in an area where U.S. troops have been deployed and operating with Kurdish-led forces.

The U.S. will not be involved in the operation, the White House said. President Trump spoke with Turkey’s President Tayyip Erdogan by telephone. U.S. troops will be moved from the area.

"The United States will not hold them for what could be many years and great cost to the United States taxpayer," the statement read. "Turkey will now be responsible for all ISIS fighters in the area captured over the past two years in the wake of the territorial “Caliphate” by the United States."

Hours after the announcement, Kurdish-led forces in Syria reported that American troops have begun withdrawing from areas along Turkey's border.

Good call by the US.

Why would they fight against any of their Allies in this situation? Just pull out, let the Kurds and the Turks sort themselves. I feel a bit sad that the Kurds are now being left on their own, but you can't expect US to fight Turkey...

The Kurds have been subjected to a genocide by 2 countries (Turkey and Iraq) and are treated like rubbish by Iran.
They need protection.

By the US who is an Allie of Turkey via NATO?

Not saying they don't need protection, I'm saying the US can't.

The US has had troops in that region for awhile. They should keep their forces there as a deterrent to Turkey.

This is the one case where outside intervention is justified.

Good call by the US.
Why would they fight against any of their competitors in this situation? Just pull out, let the South Africans and the Chinese sort themselves. I feel a bit sad that the South Africans are now being left on their own, but you can't expect US to fight China...

I see the Kurds looking to the RUSSIANS for assistance as did the Syrians

Russia and Turkey age old enemies

Why did Russia pass up on two different chances to take Constantinople?

AT THE GATES OF CONSTANTINOPLE

The West had to force the Russian army to stop at the gates of Constantinople

Please President Putin help the Kurds and carry on an take Constantinople as you have nearly done before

Those who control America -- you know who they are -- need some lessons

Once a Jewish Sect, Turkey's Secretive Dönme Inspire Conspiracy and Persecution

The Other Secret Jews

Trump and the Americans are acquiescing to ANOTHER ARMENIAN GENOCIDE !

Turkey intends to make a peace corridor there and then Syrian refugees will go back to their country and live peacefully in that space. Instead of suffering in other countries. Turkey history never genocide anywhere. On the contrary they are humanitarian and have welcomed millions of refugees unlike other countries which chase them away. If any community concerned about Syrian refugees they must help to make a peaceful place. The US happily sells billions of dollars worth of death weapons to terrorists including Saudia Arabia instead of making peace. Please stop your false propaganda and lies. Behave yourself.

10000 Lira have been deposited into your account. Thank you for being part of the Turkish Internet Defence Force.

Now for people who are not on the payroll of the Turkish government: one wonders why someone would reference the Armenian genocide when referring to a "peaceful" military incursion into another country.

Turkey has zero apartheid or genocide of ethnic groups in their history unlike most other countries like EU USA S.A. etc. They don't say bad things about others either. Look at the Kurds trying to occupy other people's territory and spreading lies and hatred amongst fools. It's been less than a day and already they are here attacking with lies. Even in Cape Town they have Kurds opening restaurants, collecting money and sending to PKK terrorists. Amazing how naive the comments are. Educate and stop your hatred...

I don't know, looks like Turkey isn't as friendly as you think

You see, this picture is actually of US soldiers marching Armenian Civilians to a prison camp.

And this mass grave in Armenia is clearly a Zionist plot.

Just look at Turkey elected president and it tells you everything about the Turkish mentality and history.

Anyone who thinks that Turkey is a docile friendly bunch of people with no ill history is living on a new kind of crack.

No sorry, this is bullcrap by the US, the Kurds have been allies and the US has benefited from their help. Will the Kurds turn out to be just another ally that the US betrays and turns their backs on when their usefulness runs out... terrible. And this comes from someone who likes Trump (not all his policies mind you).

What about the million odd Syrian refugees in Turkey? Europe didn't appear to want them.
