Most of us love technology, especially when it comes to having an all-in-one gadget like the iPhone or iPod Touch. While most of us were on the Apple Store downloading applications or reading on blogs about the latest news, geeks at ThikFlood, came up with the idea of your own personal remote control called RedEye.

With the RedEye system you can use your iPhone or iPod Touch to control your TV, stereo, cable box, DVD player, and many other devices that receive standard (infrared) signals. In other words, no more hunting through your sofa cushions for all those different remotes – all the control you need is right in your pocket.

How is RedEye your personal remote?

Each person in your house can use her own iPhone or iPod touch as a controller, and more than one controller can interact with your gear simultaneously.

Is it easy to use?

One touch launches any activity – watch TV, listen to music, play a video. And custom screen layouts for each activity mean you never have to hunt for the right button.

How does it work?

After you install the RedEye on your iPhone or iPod Touch, you can communicate with the RedEye device over Wi-Fi. Then the RedEye device sends out infrared signals to control your equipment. Because the RedEye device is in the same room as your equipment, you don’t have to be. Instead, you can control your living room stereo from the kitchen, or turn off the TV upstairs.

Like some high-end home automation setups, the RedEye system is modular: you can control more rooms by adding more RedEye devices, or add more controllers by adding more iPhones.

What do you need?

You need and the application that is available on the Apple Store for free. The application works with all iPhone or iPod Touch models running OS 2.2.1 or later.

You need the RedEye hardware witch is available through the ThinkFlood online store for 188.00 $ US

I often see these great new iPhone apps being presented to the world yet as a Symbian user I often see nothing new.... been using the Psiloc IrRemote for two years now.

Of course, as is usually the case with Apple, they throw in the need to purchase additional hardware.

infrared does not come standard with modern phones, bluetooth is now the standard, yet you can buy an infrared add-on (not from apple).

This is true but it does not change the fact, and I am not singling out you or this post here, that forums and blogs put forward articles that insinuate ground breaking software developments on the iPhone yet most of those have been on my N95 for ages.

Don't make me search the web to find examples of (ignorant) bloggers gushing about this great new software for the iPhone.

And did you post the original article merely to spread the word about what you felt was a great app or, if you are to be truthful, because you felt it was good one upmanship in the battle to make the iPhone appear the greatest gadget ever?

Which year?

Oh, yeah sorry and I forgot that one editor is god of all decisions when it comes to gadgets.

Anyway, I'll leave you iPhone fanboys to it... I just felt like pointing out a fact.

I see the Nokia phones don't do MMS.
Where did that idea come from?

Nokia are only 2 years behind Apple these days...

I really think that Apple / iPhone haters just don't get it, and then to fill the void they juice it up on hate. The 'fanboys' don't go and piss on your party, why do you come and piss on ours?

Enjoy your Nokia.

What I like about this gadget is that it's like a remote blaster, It would be nice to see the price come down a bit and available locally. I'd like to see how easy it would be to control DSTV with it.
