He then addressed the Afrikaner community.

"Don't stand on the sidelines of all the political turbulence. This land is your land. It's all of our land."

He pleaded with Afrikaners to get involved and help, "because you have the skills that are so badly needed in our country".

"Speak your mind about affirmative action," he said.

Sit back and wait for Malema to respond...

I usually don't pass along these 'add your name' lists, but this one is way too important!

To show your support for Jacob Zuma and encourage him on his run for President, please add your name to the rapidly growing list below and send it on.

1. Julius Malema.

Lol! :D

Seriously, though: Tutu has a point. As an Afrikaner, I know we can be a bit hesitant in speaking out. We'll rather complain to other Afrikaners about the state of XYZ than make a big noise about it. It's just how we are. We don't like taking to the streets.

I agree we must start being more vocal in public and directing our complaints to the correct people.

Malema is going to call Tutu a coconut and then claim he doesn't understand the struggle or revolution... the same struggle that was over when Julius turned all of 9 years old.

Interesting that Tutu doesnt make an appeal to the English speakers out there... or dont we count? Are our skills not needed? and no, I cannot go back to England, I was born here!

Ons vir jou Suid-Afrika.

Viva, Suid Afrika, Viva :D

Quite true what Tutu said. The white (whom I think he is actually referring to instead of merely Afrikaans) people have the experience and skills based on how this country was run, so instead of shutting those of us with the skills out, let us put it to good use for the country, teach the unskilled people and build up the country.

What a crock.

How are Afrikaners supposed to use their skills that the country so badly needs when government policy permits them from doing so. It has been made very clear by certain government officials that this is not the Afrikaners land.

Sure he was refering to the "white tribe of africa" rather than to the afrikaans people.

He then addressed the Afrikaner community.

Sad thing is most of us aare trying to do this but with the ANC (criminal-tide) at the helm its really demoralising to know I am first in my class with whatever marks in any course yet I will not get the top jobs to be able to help my country because my skin is a shade or three to light.

Sad :(

Well to be factually correct, Afrikaners are considered the white tribe of africa, because they/we speak an indigenous language. Just thought I'd through it out there, use it, don't use it.

Maybe he just said afrikaners cause he was speaking to an afrikaans church community?

The man's got a point... Instead of gathering +-200,000 people on Angus Buchan's pointless chauvinistic "get high on jesus" spud farm this year, why don't they/we do something USEFUL for a change, instead of praying to Jeebus to safe us from whatever it is we/they need saving from...
