Your premium shouldn't go up as you weren't the cause of the accident.

You will however fight forever and a day to get your excess back.

Also insurance companies push you premiums up every year because well...bull****.

So do what I do and simply tell them to **** off and then get a quote elsewhere or claim that you'll be moving. Magically your rate gets reduced to less than it was the year before.

Will give this a shot :D

It really is as simple as this. I've gotten more expensive cars/bikes, house contents etc and yet magically I'm paying less today than I did 4 years ago (and I've claimed)

Go through your insurance.
Your insurance will hold early bird liable if they are the registered owners of the vehicle. It's a company so you should get a full recovery and your premiums shouldn't be affected. If they are shop around for other insurance but through a broker.
