Whites have never been excluded from playing soccer so how and why would government try transform the demographics of the national soccer team?

It's made up mostly of black players because, as Killa says, white boys don't play soccer..

So neither have blacks been excluded for over 15 years but they still harp on about it? What happened to supposed "representation". If it's fine to have an all black soccer team it must be fine to have an all white rugby team. Race is not supposed to matter. Unfortunately in this country it does

Yep its all about the money. If he wants his team in the S14 there should be playoffs to see which is the worst SA team and so the best teams are represented in the S14.

Exactly, been a natural progression for blacks in rugby and now they get selected on merit 90% of the time and there's a significant number of excellent black players in the ranks, Jantjies, Ricky, Beast, Habana, Chilly boy just to name a few... Why they need to set up a franchise in the Eastern Cape to promote black rugby is beyond me. Talent will be recognized and shipped off to play at province that can compete at the highest levels, has the infrastructure and wealth to do so... Kings would become the whipping boys of Super 14...

Too many people are still living in the past like the Watsons. Watch one of the SA soccer teams matches.... notice what happens when Boothe gets the ball and what happens when Beast gets the ball in Rugby. I think it's awesome stuff.

I think sport is doing a lot for the country. Only thing missing right now is Bafana doing better and against NZ they looked like a different side compared to against Iraq, played much more like a team

Its not exactly like the Cheetahs or the Lions or the Stormers for that matter have ever set the world alight.

Nevermind the politics, the Lions and Cheetahs have has long enough to prove themselves but are completely hopeless. Merge them and introduce a franchise from the Eastern Cape. They can't do worse.
