They probably have it from the due diligence in the purchase.
Due diligence? The man just scared off the revenue stream for the business with a few tweets. Losing them was easy, Twitter was already feeling a little dinosaur and hatey for advertisers. Getting them back after they realise the dent in their marketing ROI is minuscule will mean they will be infinitely harder to get back.

Perhaps, but due diligence doesn't provide the low level detail you'd need to know how let go and who to retain. You may know staff costs as an overall number, but to really pick you need more info.
Depends if it's a staff or positional issue. If the stories are true about the excessive managers, they may be bringing in team structures learnt elsewhere. Say what you will, but his spacex company is efficient. There was a recent article about their second stage team, ie the rocket that never returns, they just celebrated their 200th build and they don't have the luxury of re-usabilty so as the launch cadence increased they've had to keep up.

I wonder how he's making these decisions without going through any sort of review of the company. He seems to have a number in place and will then see if the numbers work for the company after he's done. They don't even have an executive team.

I cannot comment on how America does a 189 but full pay and three months with personal follow up is not unreasonable.

It seems they have a protection thing where you need to be advised 60 days ahead of time in case of retrenchment. But I don't know how it legally plays out vs being fired immediately and then given the 2 months of severance pay.

I guess we'll see how it plays out, as some employees have already started suing.

Lines of code means nothing.
Those 100 lines could be the best most amazing code while someone pumping out dump trucks of code could be some of the worst code known to man.

Now do I think every oke at Twitter is writing 100 lines of godlike code? No.

Neither did Musk, hence the code review he wanted his Tesla okes do to with the Twitter okes.

MyBB needs the clickbait title for clicks. You don't get clicks with honesty. That's why everyone hates journalists
Would you prefer paying a monthly sub instead?

If not, shut up and click on the clickbait headlines and make MyBB some money to keep us entertained.

Retrenchment is for snowflakes.

If I worked at twitter I would have cr@pped in Musk's kitchen sink.

Retrenchment, not firing, emotional much.
They are going to court because they are being mass fired instead of retrenched as required for mass employers.

Elon not doing his research again.

Its the circle of life! The same happened at my firm recently. All the exec was axed, and some high-end managers and 20% of the staff.

They have been told to stay at home. They will get a min package if pay up to Jan/Feb. + they will discuss a severance package for each individually and go through the process. They can go to court all they like, think it will just be a waste of money.

Although if they backtrack only for selected individuals.... This can end up being interesting
