Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey says Trump ban was the right call

Twitter Inc. Chief Executive Officer Jack Dorsey said the decision to ban U.S. President Donald Trump was necessary, but raises questions about the power of social-media companies and Twitter’s failure to promote healthy conversation.

“This was the right decision for Twitter. We faced an extraordinary and untenable circumstance, forcing us to focus all of our actions on public safety,” the CEO wrote as part of a series of tweets, his first public comments since Twitter permanently removed Trump’s account on Friday.

When is he blocking Black Twitter?

he got them a lot of active users over the last four years or so, so he's done his job. he's constantly been breaking the rules and should have been banned ages ago. everyone is now just trying to save face and make it look like they do actually enforce the rules equally for all users.

So new president is coming in, and all the companies (amazon , fb, twitter) is now following his rules.

It was the right call and long overdue. He was given more than enough warnings which he refused to heed.

ISIS, al-Qaeda etc were also banned and they didn't throw such a sissy fit. Trump is free to use whatever platform the others are using, just not Twitter.

Julius has also been warned many times yet twitter keeps looking the other way like Ramaphosa did Zuma..

Seems some people are OK with hypocrisy, as long as the double standards are in their favor.

Shame so Trump was warned not to incite violence on Twitter, he ignored that and got banned.
Now its all tears despite the warnings.
Zero sympathy felt, now if only Twitter would act on the rest of the accounts that are doing the same thing.

But that's exactly the issue for most they won't do that.

Agreed, after all the verbal diarrhea coming from his mouth no sympathy.
It is also clear though that a new administration is coming into the US and all the social media platforms have banned him the day after the confirmation so there is a double standard as well. If they were really true to what they say they would have banned him sooner.

Time will tell whether Twitter did the right thing. As of now, it's just controversial.

Dorsey is only back pedalling now because his share price is in freefall.

Twitter suddenly turned into a platform for fools. More intellectuals have left and are now available on other platforms. I have not used Twitter since at least June 2020. Everyone who was active there whom I followed moved to other platforms. So, there is that too.
