There’s two types of employees. Those who have other options, and those who don’t. Presumably Musk just got rid of people he found useless, so he must now be looking for people who are useful. Such people will be able to negotiate.

Oh sure, but if you’re being headhunted, you’re not likely to switch to a company with an uncertain future unless the pay premium is worth it, or there’s some other perk that makes it worthwhile for you.

I assume that Twitter is targeting high performers here. If not, they should have just kept the staff they had.
I highly doubt if he used performance as the sole criteria to fire. Probably checking allegiance to the new regime and nothing wrong in that either as he gets to make the rules. Getting rid of people aligned to old regime is usually done in political circles though .

That’s just another reason that potential new recruits have to tread cautiously! Do you want to work for someone that perhaps gives the impression of being unhinged?

I have had some 'my way or highway' bosses but he surely takes the cake but maybe that is secret to his success so far.

You forget, some of those they wanted to keep , opted to go, so those need replacing.

When fantasy tyres meet reality tarmac. They should cheer up. This is a character building experience.
Especially when you remember how Elon wanted to walk away from the buy, but then Twitter legally forced him to continue the deal .. oof bit of an own goal there lol!

With all the good publicity that working for Twitter has garnered recently they should have no trouble finding excellent people who can't wait to work there. Musk may need for go another tirade to really seal the deal. Long hours and unlimited verbal abuse. Who could possibly refuse perks like that?

It would make perfect sense for the shareholders to force him to complete a deal that puts cash in their hands.
