Twitter showing strong growth in South Africa

Twitter has millions of users in South Africa, and is growing fast in the country. This is according to Barry Collins, the head of global resellers at Twitter.

In 2017, World Wide Worx estimated that Twitter had around 8 million users in South Africa, a 4% increase compared to the year before.

silly question,

Ive never really understood what the real reason twitter exists, it just seemed to me like a facebook without more information.

Of course Twitter is going strong... many simpletons waiting to get on to the bandwagon to call people racists

For some reason ISP's in SA only really reply to queries via twiiter, so it does have some use lol

At least it used to be less regulated than Facebook and more anonymous, which helps when you are trying to do things to disrupt a country. Twitter was an important social platform for Arab Springs, etc.

So I think as people feel less secure about South Africa more people will move to twitter to voice opinions, organise protests etc. Otherwise you just arrest the leader of a movement and it gets crippled.

noticed this myself as well, puts companies on the spot forcing them to respond,

but besides getting news from trumps trumpet and complaints, what other use does it have?
it seems to me just a tool for people to run around screaming obscenities, and for celebrities to write about their lives.
