Twitter making TweetDeck a subscriber-only feature

X (formerly Twitter) is following through on its vow to make users pay to use TweetDeck, now called XPro, The Verge reports.

Several users say they have seen a sales page for a Twitter Blue subscription (now X Premium) — when they try to load XPro.

Oh well. That was the last thing still holding me to twitter. It was a convenient tool for just seeing tweets for people you follow without the crap that the full twitter gives you. I'd be very keen to see when Threads releases a web version how active it is.

Same. I subscribe to maybe 10 people, of which about 5 I also follow on Mastodon (the other 5 seem tied to twitter). I used Tweetdeck because it only showed me stuff from them, which is pretty important when they don't tweet often.

Now that that is gone, I have severed the last ties I had to twitter.

Why not just create a private twitter/X list of those people and have a shortcut to the unique list url?
