The State of Email Security Report is quite concise and outlines the fundamental reasons why we are failing at securing our most critical information. It gives great insight as well as the way forward as shown below:

Go Beyond Defense-only Security:

1. The right security services in place before an attack happens.
2. A durability plan to keep email and business operations running during an attack or failure.
3. The ability to recover data and other corporate IP after an incident or attack occurs.

Only 11% of organizations continuously train employees on how to spot cyberattacks. 24% admit to monthly training, and 52% perform training only quarterly or once a year

When Faced with Ransomware,
Choose Fight over Flight.

Today’s security leaders are faced with an uphill battle against the ever-changing cyberthreat landscape. Ransomware attacks are becoming more sophisticated and cybersecurity professionals are taking action. With the right tools, you can prevent, detect and respond quickly to ransomware attacks threatening your organization.

The most interesting thing I learned from this report was the statistics of emails sent to the incorrect person by members of the C-suite (chart on page 9). Imagine the CEO, CIO or CFO sending reports to the incorrect person because of finger-trouble or pressing enter too soon on a suggested name- just for IT to receive a phone call asking how to recall an email. It takes 1 second for the wrong person to get "too much information" about your organisation.
