Fire retardant foam, at a guess, from what I remember there is one made for metal based fires.

Maybe it’s a case of ask part time Fire Chief Billy-Bob, when he’s back from the pub ;)
Or maybe it's a case of the EV industry players being behind in their government and or education program.

Class D extinguishers (metal based fires) will not work since the lithium isn't in metal form.
Foam based will not work either, at least not when considering the size of an EV car fire since you can't carry enough of it in a fire truck and there is no infrastructure for it. It also does very little to reduce the temperature or deal with the build up of dangerous gases.
Water is still the recommended method for fighting car fires, with the only caveat being you need to use a lot.
One exception, if the battery is still largely intact and has a dedicated fire suppression port then foam can be more effective. But accessing this once the fire is beyond a certain size is obviously quite dangerous. So only good for containing the beginning of a thermal reaction

I'm probably going to hell anyway, but the headline should read

Two die in Tesla crash where Jesus was driving

Yeah. Except according to Musk:

"Data logs recovered so far show Autopilot was not enabled & this car did not purchase FSD.

Moreover, standard Autopilot would require lane lines to turn on, which this street did not have."

And apparently autopilot does not allow for high speed, requires someone in the driver's seat and requires their hands to be on the steering wheel...
Musk always likes to talk, the cars have cameras so he should release the footage.

So do the cars stream this footage to a server? Or is it in some super duper fire proof unit? Or does this video footage storage unit eject in event of a crash?

They do, the cars have a ton of cameras. That’s how they train their computer vision model.
I’m not sure about the ‘unit’ last I heard there was two incase of failure.

Basically it’s hard to know with Tesla because they’re more like tech and less like cars, they change and upgrade without any details given but the features are there.
Also the battery pack has a smoke detector .

Ha, ha. Doesn't it almost look like someone wants to make Tesla look very bad?
Very much this.

I just read an official article from the US firefighting service that stated full EVs are 10 times less likely to catch fire than combustion engines.

It's also easy to spill hot coffee while driving but that's neither Tesla or Starbucks' fault.
It's easy to trick a coffee cup into spilling by putting it upright in the cup-holder and then rolling the car. Therefore coffee should be banned as it is unsafe.
