Two months in Disney+ still has major problems in South Africa

Disney+ is dropping the ball badly in South Africa

Numerous South African Disney+ users have cried foul over the plethora of glitches and technical issues plaguing the service since its local launch in May 2022.

Despite the wave of complaints and pleas for Walt Disney Africa to rectify the issues, many of the bugs have persisted for over two months.

Weekends are especially bad, watchable in the morning but during prime time it buffers about every minute. Switching to Netflix streams flawlessly during the same timeslots.

While it’s not the worst R950 I ever spent, it’s definitely at the lower end of value.

And their online chat isn't 24/7 either. You can only be helped during office hours.

Yeah no Prime is likely hosted straight on their big badass AWS DC that won't lag no matter what you do.

I don't understand why they needed to develop a separate app for our market instead of using the international app. Is this the approach all streaming providers take?

Based on my experience with the UK Disney+ I was prepared to dump my US Hulu/Disney/ESPN bundle in favour of the local one. Figured it would be easier in the long run. Glad I didn't pull that trigger.

I love having this conversation with clients that think it's their internet but when you prove them wrong it's like OMG Haha
Anyways, there was a file/report/talk about Hotstar actually streaming their streaming service into South Africa via their servers in India something very close to what we do in mirroring and when those links become too full things go orky. So not too sure where I remember reading it or talking to but yea hence why you all have buffering or weird aspect ratio's and or crashing none of it is hosted correctly in SA.
Edit: Hotstar as also quick to say no no no this isn't the case but ISP's all know their silly tricks something maybe to do with keeping more people employed in India or honoring something or even scoring more.

I have non of this issues, the only issue I have is that it would log out every now and then, and I seldom have my phone on me, and there stupid log in system where you don't have a phone and password like every other streaming service means I then first have to get my phone, charge it and wait a bit.

Does anyone else have brownish horizontal lines on the picture? This is using the android TV app. It's only visible on a dark screen but still annoying and distracting.

Not to be contrary but I haven't had any issues? Watched about 30-50 hours through it, Android Mii stick though.
