Meh I have a few issues (shows not auto-playing the next episode, sound and video quality sometimes poor) but overall it's been OK.

I am still unsure why I am getting Disney+ for free. I signed up on launch day and have not once subscribed, yet I'm able access all the content.

My subscription keeps saying it's expires on the day, but never does.

I signed up for the special 1 year sub. The service is ok on my maverick but inferior to netflix, prime and apple. Will give it till the sub expires if it doesn't improve by then switch to the uk version.

Yeah, I suppose it depends on the app. On my Samsung Q80T, I get 4K no issues.

I haven’t really experienced any of the issues listed here on my side.

They started with 1080 on the Samsungs and then changed to upscaled 4K . They may have changed again, but I understand it to still be upscaled.

The sound still stereo?

I bought an Apple TV and inexpensive Dolby Atmos sound bar and now watch via it. That said, I also had very few issues on my Samsung and was quite fast and responsive.

Issues were (If I recall) autostart next episode option was only available ONE title I tried - nothing else had it! There was no ‘Start from beginning’ option either.

I’ve had one evening of buffering on a 200mbps line once.

A dropped 2 or 3 frames every 45 minutes or so

On the whole, I’m happy

You are more fortunate than most, it would seem. :)

No app on Hisense VIDAA U OS, so if you want to watch Disney+ you have either a phone or laptop and use "Wireless project" to beam it to the TV. Not a great experience, but doable for the kids odd Disney movie. Us adults usually watch in a browser on a laptop anyway.

I like the library of shows (major Star Wars fan) and it's great having all the Disney/Pixar animations right there ready to go, but as people said the UX is inferior to both Netflix and Prime Video.

For instance, Bluey is a kids animation with episodes 10 mins long, but there seems to be dozens of translations judging by the credits at the end of each episode. Credits go on for at least 2 minutes, might be longer. But it never skips these credits to go to the next episode, no next episode button. So you end up having to sit through ages of credits before just simply proceeding to the next episode. Never an issue with Netflix or Prime Video.

We waited ages for D+ to arrive and when it did it appears sub-standard to the more established competition.

Disney here is a half arsenal attempt, they cannot be bothered to do a proper job, for us here.

I think that the Disney app in South Africa have a few glitches when it comes to certain phones. For example on the LG Velvet, the Disney+ App struggle to buffer. On the Samsung A52s the Disney+ App have no problems. On the Ematic 4K Ultra HD Android TV Box, the Disney+ App works perfectly.

There's still work to be done on the App but my overall experience, it works great on most devices.

Disney+ is dropping the ball badly in South Africa

Numerous South African Disney+ users have cried foul over the plethora of glitches and technical issues plaguing the service since its local launch in May 2022.

Despite the wave of complaints and pleas for Walt Disney Africa to rectify the issues, many of the bugs have persisted for over two months.

Too many other device, it is screwed up on. Worst part is the inconsistent operating, between series, and devices I have. Amazon, Netflix, Britbox, Acorn TV, etc. all work well - here. Disney - haaikona ons, fok net rond. Bunch of Tossers.

Or maybe they think we are all a bunch of Knobs, like themselves.

I feel like once all these issues are fixed Disney+ will be a preferred streaming platform in these parts because they have a better library than Amazon Prime. Showmax should be worried.

But with poor UX design, technical issues plaguing them and their disdain for the more budget section of the market (which is most of it), they are going to battle getting a proper foothold in our market.

Look, it's still a frustrating app based on that.

Oh - I did forget one :

The aspect ratio of Always Sunny in Philadelphia (4:3) wasn't correct at all on the Samsung. Better on the Android TV - but still 'off' ... and quality wise, both of those pale in comparison to a, er, backed up copy . I haven't tried that show on Apple TV though

That is what bugs and frustrates a great many people, is their backup version, works perfectly, where the normal one, has issues. A lot of people would be very much happier if the reverse was true.

Is there a disney + windows app? Last I checked they hadn't released one for SA.
As I expected went and checked and there is no disney+ SA app. There is an international one but not for our mess of a hotstar implementation.

Its actually hilarious as when you click on the entertainment section of the windows store there is a huge disney + icon next to netflix but app is nowhere to be found on the SA store.

This was specifically related to windows and previous question on why watch on a browser when there are apps.

There is no app for Disney + sa version on the windows store.

I have apps for it on my Samsung phone and maverick android box but no app option for windows unlike Netflix and prime.

No idea on fire tv stick as I don't have one.

Hmmm ... , okay.

On Fire Stick, you need to ask Alexa, to get SA version of app.
